Casey
This county borders northeast of mine, we are very close to where this picture was taken at. I actually go fishing here every year with my father and older brother!!! Its excting but also scary to know we got some here now. We have had reports about some in the last few years, but no body had any proof until now!! http://www.theindychannel.com/news/23489186/detail.html

Ethan Givan
Thats crazy. Lots of people swear that we have them here too. Ive never seen one but I did see some tracks at my uncles farm that were believed to be from a mountain lion. My cousin saw one dead on the side of the road headed to Columbia, KY a couple years ago too. I dont wanna see one while bowhunting, thats for sure. Crappiepro
I live and hunt 2 miles from where the last cougar in Clay county Indiana was spotted! This was 2years ago when they seen one!
camoman1
Been some sightings here in WI lately too. I would bet they have been here for some time, but with the flood of trail cams in the woods as of the last few years, more of them are being seen. Diamond Archer 01
That is pretty crazy. People say there are some mountain lions in NY but I am not really convinced about it. I would have to see proof of to believe one being in NY.

Jeramie
I think they are pretty much everywhere these days. Their numbers seem to be doing really well. To those that say there are "suppose" to be some in your state... Oklahoma had them for years and our wildlife department denied it. Then last year they added information on killing them if they pose a threat to your livestock or you personally. They have also reported sightings in larger citys like Broken Arrow which is basically a sub-division off of the SE side of Tulsa. It is very populated so if they are moving into cities there are likely more here then people would believe.
Goinghuntin
My neighbor 2 miles down the road says he's seen cougar tracks in his timber lot, and we get the occasional claimed sighting. But last year we finally had a black bear wandering around here! :jaw: Never found out what happened to him. Nathan
wtnhunt
Welcome back Casey. Have heard rumors of cats being seen around here, would not really surprise me.
Heavy Metal
My boys recently took some field trips with Indiana DNR rangers at some parks. All the mom's and dad's were somewhat surprised when the officer casually mentioned that they had ben introducing grey wolf and mountain lion back into Indiana for near 10 years. Same thing in allot of Midwest states. We come from the Sacramento Valley, specifically the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas where lions are picking mountain bikers and joggers off of popular trails, killing campers, and bounding through backyards in the suburbs of Sacramento. Not to mention killing cattle, sheep and other livestock. That is normal on the evening news back there. A frustrating situation as they are highly protected in CA. There numbers are booming and even a managed hunt I think makes sense. We're not talking about deer or squirrel here. In a state as old and as populated as Indiana I have to question the logic of reintroducing either of these animals into a state that is this small and so full of people and livestock. When questioned the ranger said, "Well, they were here originally and were hunted or drove out of population. So they belong here." Yeah, so, now we should try to put them back in....:hammer1: Edited May 11, 2010 by Heavy Metal

I remember in the last three years that there has been sightings of them moving in and out of Southern Iowa and Northern Illinois, around Chi-Town and in Southern Illinois. I just knew it would come true when one was spotted in Southern Indiana. I think they can survive in my neck of the woods due to all the big coal mines we have. There is a lot of coal mines that have been used up and there are a lot of caves around where a mountain lion can raise some kittens. Yeah our KDFW denied them here too, but in the last year or so they have started to say that there may be a few around that have been released by people who had them as pets. I think there are alot more of them than most people think. They are just so secretive no one sees them. Kinda like our bobcats. We have lots of them now, but you might get lucky and see one in a years time.
Prairiepredator
There is a lot more out there than people think, you just don't see them very often. There is getting to be more and more sightings of them around here. I personally have never seen one, but I know a few people who have. Me and a friend of mine were hunting in an area where cougars have been spotted before and we are pretty sure we seen a track of one. Jeramie
Kinda like our bobcats. We have lots of them now, but you might get lucky and see one in a years time. Thats a good point. We have a hefty population of bob cats too but you rarely see them unless youre calling! In all of the years ive hunted ive only seen a handful yet I know we have a lot of them. Funny how that goes isn't it. They said the same thing about a gator found in the river here, that was up until folks started finding gators in Memphis area lakes. Now the twra has backpeddled and said they know that some gators are making their way in this area up the Mississippi with the warmer climate. State also changed our regs around the same time to specify that any non listed animals have no season.
