Heavy Metal
I had $150 burning a hole in my pocket and I found this little gun brand new for $160. Nothing special at all, very cheap rifle and not worth a penny more than I paid for it but I just couldn't resist for the price. I've been wanting to see what all the fuss is about on the .17 HMR. It's a black synth stock and a standard blued barrel. It is an import from Brazil. Came with split Weaver rails and no open sights. My scope is on the way from Cabela's. It's also cheap, LOL! BSA, 3-9X 32 for $50. Will report back after I shoot some dimes!!
Jeramie
You can stack the .17hmr. Its actually a fun little round. I had a nice bull barrel chambered in .17 but ended up selling it. I like to shoot small cals for fun but they arent nearly as cheap as the .22lr. I did use that rifle on Prairie Dogs and squirrel. Make sure you aim for the head, it sure makes a mess. I put a cheap Tasco 3x9x40 on mine and it was a tack driver. I got back from Western Oklahoma and took it Squirrel hunting. I had a Fox squirrel about 80 yards out in a tree. I didnt think there was any way I would smoke him but took the chance. He rolled out of the tree. They are a bad little cal... Congratulations and get some pics up once you have it setup! bowhuntMN
I have a savage .17 hmr and love it! i have the BSA Sweet 17 with the bullet compensating turrets on it and it works like a charm. Mine's also black synthetic stock with a blued barrel and it looks great, especially with the sunchade on the scope and a 6"-9" bipod attached. Looks like a sweet tactical series rifle but a heck of a lot cheaper :gun2: I'm going to be shooting it this weekend at the range and can't wait. A friend of mine downloaded a ballistics program on his computer and printed out a sheet for me with all the ballistic information you could want for the .17 hmr caliber. I could have him email it to me and i could send it to you if you want. It's very useful to have and interesting to look at.

Kudos on choosing a Mossberg :flex: Same exact scope I have on my Savage Mark II .22, it works pretty dang good Nathan
Heavy Metal
Well, first bit of feedback after shooting the new rifle Sunday. Overall, I'm disappointed in the gun itself. On almost every bolt cycle, the bolt comes back, ejects the shell (couple times the shell did not eject) and would not go back forward to chamber the next round from the clip. I found that I had to keep my left hand under the clip so I could wiggle it while I pushed the bolt forward with my right hand. Even this takes multiple tries on almost every single shot, very frustrating. A few times I almost gave up. Literally could not get it to chamber and close. So I'd pop the clip out and put it back in...then wiggle some more. One time I pushed to hard trying to force it closed and it crammed a round up into the receiver, missed the chamber, folded the live round and shoved the slug down inside the casing! I carefully pulled the bolt back, popped the clip out and picked the bad round out. It's like the clip is not properly aligned/made to the receiver and the bullets don't want to slide out of the clip and into the chamber. I'll be the first to admit, this is a very cheap gun. But this gun is absolute junk. The craftsmanship is terrible and the gun flat out does not work. I've owned cheap guns before, but they at least performed and actually worked. I do not consider this a working firearm. And most importantly, it's dangerous. I have two sons I was hoping to enjoy this gun with. I would never place this rifle in the hands of my kids. I know it's an import but the gun has Mossberg's imprint on it. I hope this is not consistent with the rest of their line. Ammo: CCI .17g shot 35 rounds

Did you look to see if the clip goes in crooked or something? When I took apart my Savage Mark II and put it back together I noticed that if I weren't paying attention that there was a little room for error had I done a shoddy job or something.
