Turkeygirl
Decided to go with a Leaf River IR 7SS trail cam as my new cam, little more $ but I got a good deal and from what I've seen, really good photos and no complaints. Anyone own a Leaf River? What do ya think? I liked the idea of the bracket on it with the locking bar...think I may be able to rig some chain up to it as well for more security. wtnhunt
Don't know about leaf rivers anymore. Their customer service used to be top notch, shame they have gotten away from that as their customer service is definitely not what it once was. We had good luck with our first leaf river, took tons of pics and the camera was still working despite having some minor issues last time I sent in. Unfortunately the folks at vibrashine sent me a refurb as a replacement after they screwed up not repairing a leak I paid them to fix, that refurb has never worked right. ruttinbuc
I have an infrared and an older color camera. Both are OK. The new one should give a better picture. I had an issue myself with leaking batteries shutting the color camera down. They expected me to pay to have it fixed. I wrote them that the design allowed this to happen. Why should I pay for a fatal flaw? They fixed it and sent it back. They are doing the job for what they were intended for. I don't use them that much anymore. Security cams now... I really believe the less I am in the woods checking cameras the better. Besides, I like surprises when they show up. Much more exciting that way. JackedUpZ71
I have an IR-5, and it worked pretty good for about the first six months. Then the internal clock started messing up. When I would go to pull the card on it the date would always say 1/1/2000. I emailed Leaf River and got a reply back the next day. It was still under their one year warranty, so they fixed it for free. My only complaint is that they waited until after I bought mine to drop the price $100:bang:. RangerClay
I love my Leaf River cam. I don't have the same model but mine gets AWESOME battery life. Have you checked with KTMMIKE to see what he has? I got mine for a steal from him.

Hoyt03
Goodluck. You really should have had 12 ringer build you a homebrew. I've built 4 s40's and I'll never go back to comm cams. Hope yours last awhile, and some a-holes don't get it.
Flintlock1776
I checked it out online at Cabelas. Like most, if not all Trail Cams, very few have high ratings by buyers on Cabelas page regardless of brand. I can attest to that. I have several versions by other mfg.; they wonk but they could be better. Cudde Back seems to have the lowest ratings. Unfortunate, I sue would like to find the one trail cam that is reliable and consistent.
