fisherguy
Re: pike lures? large spinnerbaits, bucktails, bulldawgs, spoons, and later in the year large jigs with minnows. Early on bobber fishing with cut bait can be great for post-spawn fish as they will forage for winter killed baitfish. For colours go by the specific waterway, but chartreuse, orange and white tend to be consistant.
horst
Re: pike lures? Coles, a hungry pike will eat about anything you throw at him I use spoons, rapalas, twisters, spinners, live bait, just about anything you can think of.My new favorite lure for them a Williams warbler, its a spoon with more of a wobbling action, I love the blue and silver one.Ive started catching pike on this in lakes Ive never had any luck in before and Ive caught lots of them. Right after ice out the northrerns start spawning, it can be a pretty slow time of the year to try to catch them.give it about another month after the ice goes off though and it can be fantastic fishing, they seem to go nuts right after they spawn{here anyway}.and if you plan on eating them and dont already know how, Id recomend learning how to take the Y bones out, otherwise its like biting into a porcupine Good Luck
bulldawg
Re: pike lures? Gotta love those Daredevils, other spoons, Mepps Spinners, rapalas, etc. After ice out, and the big females have spawned, they will take a dead minnow, laying on the bottom. Just take a 1 or 2 sized straight shank hook, and put a 12" light wire 30# test leader on it. Push the hook into the minnow(through the mouth) and pull it up through the top of the back. Put a couple of #7 split shots about 12" above the leader. Throw it out, and just sit back and wait. When the fish hits, let it have a bit of slack, until it makes a run, then set the hook hard! They are so vicious this time of year, that you usually don't have to wait too long to set the hook.

coles
Re: pike lures? i have always used the red and white daredevils and they worked great. today i bought some 4 inch berkly powerminnows, some rapala X-Raps in pink, in white and one with a blue back, gold mid section and orange bottom, of course another red and white daredevil, and a #5 red and white mepps. so i should be in good shape for a while. them X-Raps sure do look good and for all you guys who fish for Redfish and Specks the white X-Rap should work awesome. dogdoc
Re: pike lures? coles---once they get into the shallows in the grass and moss--the VERY best thing you can throw that those bad boys is a rainbow trout or a bubblegum pink sluggo--they can't refuse those sluggos with some pink on them todd
Shaun_300
Re: pike lures? right now, we are using 10 or 11" sucker minnows... through the ice... boy do you ever have to let them run before you set the hook LOL, i had one bite and i gave him about a 30 yard dash before i gave him the gears
RDNKHNTR77
Re: pike lures? i like casting big 3/4 oz spoons with a lot of flash. also, hot-n-tots have worked wonders for me in the past in 8-15 ft. of water
flyrod64
Re: pike lures? Alot of anglers around here like to use a brown wooly bugger tied onto a led head jig painted pink. I've tied quite a few for em.
