Tominator
If I plant corn that came off a hybrid ear, will it produce seeds?
TN Bucknasty
It depends on what kind it is. Its not supposed to reproduce, but I've seen it happen.
wtnhunt
If I plant corn that came off a hybrid ear, will it produce seeds? Seems I asked someone that same question years ago bud. We have volunteer seeds grow in the garden every year. Pretty sure I have seen some hybrid corn from previous years grow ears with seed, but also thinking I was told they are not supposed to. Considered planting some peaches and cream seed from dried corn in the past but was told it would never produce so I have not tried it. Tominator
Seems I asked someone that same question years ago bud. Do you remember what my answer was? I think I'll go ahead and plant it, can't hurt, and even if it doesn't produce viable ears, it will provide cover and the deer will eat the leaves/stalks anyhow. My plan is to snip The farmer next to me has corn in this year, so maybe I'll get some of his good pollen.
wtnhunt
Do you remember what my answer was? Maybe so. Let us know if it produces Chris, got me kind of interested here. No corn for us this year, was hoping to plant a plot for the deer of rr corn, not going to happen though. We are going to be lucky to even get the 4h annual plot in this year. Tominator
Let us know if it produces Chris, got me kind of interested here. Now I need it to dry out. Might have to wait until next year. I'll have, literally, thousands of acres of corn all around me this year since most of my area is in the corn rotation. Maybe I'll put beans down this year.
