Work-out this AM

I'm whooped after the hunt this am...ok well I worked till 11pm then got home and was asleep by midnight then up at 4:10am...no wonder:1eye:

Anyway I go in on a diff. logging road that leads down to the field I was at yesterday. I hear the bird sound off. I work my way in but couldn't get as close as I wanted. Well I bump a hen right out of the tree I went to lean up against after I stepped on some old pop bottle hidden in the bushes. 5am comes and the gobbler sounds off then his hens go nuts, almost right up to fly down they were cackling and yelping and cutting from the trees and I played along with them:gunsmilie: Well next thing I know he's down just around the ridge bend...sounds like he landed up on the logging road over that way. Hens stay up for awhile, he's gobbling. Finally I see him come round the bend in all his puffy glory. One hen flies down and lands to my left. Well the gobbler comes my way, about 40 yards, but no comfortable with the shot, I watch him go up the bank to my left and he disappears with the hen, gobbling up on top. Well 2 hens fly down and land to my left, I call them...actually they came eight in to about 10 yards and I jump up and scatter those little brats:gunsmilie: He's gobbling but won't come off the hill. I work my way up one road, then back down the field...Then I see a hen and strutting gobbler decoy out in the field!! No idea when that showed up but pretty sure it was after me. So I try to stay between there and the gobbler...he disappears into a ravine, I go down, next thing he gobbles from the top again. The guy, never saw him, bellows out on a crow call above me...worst sounding noise I swear. He was gone by about 8am though, lucky me;) I won't go into much more but all I can say is I chased that bird all over the ridge, tried to get in front....Last spot I left him, he was responding to me but hung up on the hill...some brush and fallen trees I don't think helped. So I'll be there tonight to roost him and if I know where he roosts, going in alot early and going in close and putting out a hen decoy. I think had I had a hen out, he'd have been in trouble. Hopefully no one else to compete with...I dunno what to do in that situation but I have as much right to hunt there so we'll see.
