A/C/C's and speed

This is just my opinion...but speed don't kill deer...hitting the vitals kills deer. How fast is your bow shooting now? And do you know how much KE that arrow has?

Knowing you have enough KE and hitting where you aim is WAY more important than speed.

To answer your question, no I never shot them and don't know if they will slow your speed down or not?

Re: A/C/C\'s and speed

As far as your question...no I have never shot the ACC's...but I do know a couple things about speed.

First off speed does kill and in particular it kills two things just for starters:

1. It kills your wallet...every time you go to the pro shop and want more speed out of your bow or arrows...believe me it will cost you money.

2. It kills your accuracy.....the faster your arrow goes the faster the bow is that sent it down range. Now normally that does not sound like a bad thing until you think about the fact that your holding that bow. Even the slightest influence from your hand is AMPLIFIED as your need for speed increases....therefore amplifying any mistakes.

Simple facts are that unless you shoot alot...you probably wont be able to tell the difference from one relatively similar arrow to another out of the same bow.

I hunt with A/C/C's, and yes they will slow you down compared to most solid carbon shafts. They are extremely straight and matched in weight by dozen, those things are on the plus side, and the reason I shoot them. They are pricey, around $120 a dozen. This year, if i hunt with my new bow, I think i will go back to shooting an all carbon arrow.

Re: A/C/C\'s and speed

I hunted with ACCs for 10 years. They were outstanding arrows until they reduced the straightness level. They were .0015" now they are .003". I won't buy them at that price.

Anyhoo, ACC arrows will not slow down the speed when it is compared to an arrow with the same weight. They weigh more than an all carbon arrow so they will not be as fast. But compare them to an equal weight and spined arrow and they will actually be faster downrange as they are skinnier making them more aerodynamic.

Shooting 20 or 30 yards, the shooter will not see an advantage. Extend the range and it will come into its own.
