simpzenith2
Logged on this morning only to find I had been banned as a spammer. I didn't receive a warning or any type of notification. I assume I was banned for posting a topic looking for other turkey hunters to video which contained a YouTube video of one of my hunts. Although my video does show the name of my site, it's a non profit site and does not compete with Realtree in any way. Nothing about my post was spam. I wear almost entirely Realtree camo because I agree, it is the most effective camo pattern but that's beside the point. This is a forum for hunters to discuss and share hunting and related items. The reason sites like Realtree.com include them is to draw traffic to increase business but the forum should remain open for hunters to do what they do, trade ideas, tips and tell of their hunts with other hunters. I'm sure this post won't be here long as they will probably delete it. They apparently only want certain hunters here and not all!

Straight Shooter
Hello and welcome to the forums, I don't have a clue of what went on but please don't catagorize all of Admin. together, some are quick to hit the ban button if it even looks like spam. I apologize and sorry your first post got you banned, but there is a ton of spammers that visit and post on here. It sounds like you have a great site going and I hope you stay around and share some stories and tips with us.

redkneck
It was probably that Chris guy, he's a trouble maker. I have no idea what happened, but mostly the bans come from perceived advertisements. I'm sure the mod will be kind enough to speak up soon as to the reason. simpzenith2
Well I hope it was a fluke as I enjoy reading the content on here and adding my 2 cents from time to time. I'm sorry for implying that all the Admins were responsible as I don't know who was involved and I will continue to enjoy the forum if allowed. Maybe a post should be reviewed by more than one person before it is decided that it is indeed spam. Thanks. Shane

Shane Spam is dealt with as it comes up here, understand this forum gets inundated with spam. While it was not me who banned your previous user, if it appeared as though your primary reason here was for self promotion most mods here would have banned you or agreed to ban you. I'm sure this post won't be here long as they will probably delete it. They apparently only want certain hunters here and not all! As for your initial posting here in this thread, if you truly want to stick around I would tend to think a different tone might help your cause rather than coming off as bashing those who volunteer to keep this forum clean. Couldn't have said it better myself, The forums seem to have been getting bombarded by spam lately and advertising which is not allowed. I try and look into stuff as much as I can before I ban someone, and talk with other admins to get their opinion. Not too often someone gets banned just like that without any discussion, unless it's plain copied message spam and advertisement, or posting very explicit things. If we see that it's usually adios no questions asked. Anyway, welcome back to the forums. As long our simple rules are followed you'll enjoy yourself here and we'll enjoy your company. As for your initial posting here in this thread, if you truly want to stick around I would tend to think a different tone might help your cause rather than coming off as bashing those who volunteer to keep this forum clean. First of all, my primary reason is to discuss/share and read what others are discussing/sharing about hunting. Second, there was nothing wrong with my tone. I was simply stating my opinion that once the Mods discovered that I had signed back up after being banned, that my post would be deleted and I would be banned again. Are you saying that my earlier words were too harsh for this forum and they are cause for being banned? Like I said in my initial post, I would like to at least receive some notification or warning prior to being banned. Nothing in my post violated the rules and if such blind moderation is used, then it's likely some of the mods have, in the past, banned valuable contributors to the forum and will likely continue to do so in the future. Without them, you have no forum. Again it's not my intention to direct this to all Administrators as I have no idea who is responsible or the amount of irrelevant posts you guys have to filter out. I'm just little peeved that one person chose to do so. Who exactly mods the mods for poor decision making or is there such a thing?

I dont know what your first post was, but generally if someone makes a first post promoting a website or product then it doesnt go over so well. Usually works better if you say howdy, and let everyone get to know who you are a little bit. Oh well....now we know ya. Welcome to the forums. We're not speaking of my very first post since joining the forum almost a year ago. I made this post yesterday I think and this morning when I went to sign on the read the new topics, it said I was banned. Below is what I posted and please feel free to explain what is wrong with so I won't make the mistake of doing it again: If you're like me, you're already looking forward to next year. Well, I making a list of possible participants for the 2011 season and if you or someone you know is interested in participating in the 2011 season of Turkey Hunt Public Land then I would like to know. Send me an email to [email protected] with the state and a general idea of when you can hunt. Don't worry about lottery results as the schedule won't be set until after most states have drawn their tags. The number of spots are limited though and will fill quickly! Thank you! texastrophies
It is backdoor advertising. You know it, I know it and everyone else on here knows it. You have a website that just happens to be mentioned in capital letters in your post. At your website you obviously intend to make a profit by selling products, even though none are currently listed. It is my opinion that the above posted should be deleted. If you want to advertise on Realtree's site, contact them and make the arrangements. And no I wasn't the one who banned you before, but I would say it was a good call.
birdhunter39
your post would worry me for starters no one knows where your from 2nd not even a hello and who i am 3rd hey you want to go hunting with me , as a few people said we have had a lot of spammers , i would first get to know people before asking them if they want to hunt , you've only been here for about a year and only 4 posts and all of them are to protect yourself and your actions , like i said earlier welcome to the forums . Turkeygirl
Maybe if you had asked a moderator in the first place if your post advertising the turkey hunting was ok or not, you wouldn't be in this predicament...
RangerClay
Second, there was nothing wrong with my tone. Yes there is. it's likely some of the mods have, in the past, banned valuable contributors to the forum and will likely continue to do so in the future. I highly doubt this. I belong to 3 or 4 forums and we have some of the finest Mods out there. They were doing their job and calling them out is not going to help your cause. Again it's not my intention to direct this to all Administrators as I have no idea who is responsible or the amount of irrelevant posts you guys have to filter out. I'm just little peeved that one person chose to do so. Who exactly mods the mods for poor decision making or is there such a thing? I didn't see the original post but sounds like you got banned for back door advertising and got caught. I'm sure that Mr. Hughes is very aware of what you are posting. Personally I could care less if you peeved. If you don't like the atmoshere here, leave.

dartonman
If you dont follow the rules, than you will be banned. Its pretty simple really. I commend you for doing what you do with the kids, and getting them in the woods, but if you try and back door advertise, than a banning will ensue. We are a family forum, and provide care over these forums, as we have seen other forums turn into vulgar vindictive websites that scare away other people. I support other mods, and all the forum members that have been members for several years without any infractions. You want to be a contributing member, awesome...follow the rules. al

Although my video does show the name of my site, it's a non profit site and does not compete with Realtree in any way. Appears as though you knew the reason, yet you again post what you knew got you banned the first time around exactly(cut and paste) as it was, and to my knowledge you have not been given permission. Members are allowed to post clips and such, but you have to understand that when a brand new member comes in here and it appears as though their primary reason here is to draw traffic to their site whether it be non for profit or for profit, those members will be looked at and banned on a case by case basis. This is a forum for hunters to discuss and share hunting and related items. The reason sites like Realtree.com include them is to draw traffic to increase business but the forum should remain open for hunters to do what they do, trade ideas, tips and tell of their hunts with other hunters. Correct, we have a great group of members here who do exactly that. If you wanted a second chance you would not have called out the admins in your first post back. I'm sure this post won't be here long as they will probably delete it. They apparently only want certain hunters here and not all! This is the unnecessary tone which I for one as a long time member and moderator here do not particularly appreciate, not to mention the very title of your thread. If you wanted to come back and be a contributing member hoping to get a chance, that above would not have been part of what you posted. First of all, my primary reason is to discuss/share and read what others are discussing/sharing about hunting. Second, there was nothing wrong with my tone. I was simply stating my opinion that once the Mods discovered that I had signed back up after being banned, that my post would be deleted and I would be banned again. Actually previsouly banned members with ip matches such as yours usually lead to immediate bannings, consider yourself lucky to have not been banned prior to posting any of this as your ip you registered and posted from does match your previously banned user. And yes there was a problem with the tone of what you posted in calling out the group as a whole in the lounge as is bolded above. Are you saying that my earlier words were too harsh for this forum and they are cause for being banned? Like I said in my initial post, I would like to at least receive some notification or warning prior to being banned. Promoting without permission is against the rules, there was no blind moderation here.

No "high how ya doin my is....( ),Im new here" ....NO, its here is my site and bla bla bla...frankly..it sounded like spam..looked like spam...smelled like spam.... Thus the banning.. simpzenith2
Ok guys, you made your point. This was not my very first post as some continue to say was the reason for the ban but I will not mention anything about what I do or post videos of my hunts again. I will only discuss what others are discussing and add my 2 cents. Let's move on and I'm sorry if what I posted was in violation of the rules.
