Our 6 month lobster season closed today. We landed the last half of our traps today......... they are now stored on land until the last Monday of next November when it starts all over again. Before then though, we will have to overhaul all the rope, bouys and traps to get ready for the next season.

If I want ( even though I won't ) I can lay around for 6 months :D .......... life is good :)

Today is a fun day, after all the traps are landed and the work is done, alot of my friends and fellow fisherman get together around the wharf, have a few social drinks and talk about the good times.......... life is good :) except when I got home and the wife growled at me for drinking :D :D :D

Sounds like a fun job if you ask me! Hope you enjoy your time off!

I guess you can call it fun............ but, it's hard pysically and mentally as well .......... after 25 days in April and 28 days in May at sea hauling lobster gear .......... my body aches from my toenails to the top of my head and all parts in between, I have boarded over 21,000 lobster traps in these two months and they weigh around 80+ pounds each ............. the next few weeks of rest before I start something else will be very nice.

Oh stop yer gripin' !!!:D

Glad to know everyone's home safe, Lewis...that's the main thing !

I was down the Cape the long weekend, and the boys are having a tough go of it. The catch is down, and so is the price. That warm spell in March, they figure, got the lobster moved out earlier than usual.

The fellow they lost off Cheticamp went out overloaded. Apparently there was a lot of 'old timers' who told him not to go with the load he had...unfortunately he didn't listen.

Anywho...take a week or two off...then ya can start on the 'honey-do'...

And as for a drink or two?...WOMEN !!!...no sense of humour !! aargh, aargh !!:D

...:drink:...:argue:...:boxing:...:stretcher:

Enjoy your time off. I'm glad you are home safe.

As a whole, would you say that your season was successful? Did you make your quota? Did you have more than one duck farts yesterday? icon10.gif

as far as catch wise ......... we had a great season ( not on a quota system "yet" , thankfully ) ..... the price was lower than most years for the entire season thanks to the poor ecomomy world wide, which means that I could have made Alot more money if it would have been higher, but that is just one of those things when it comes to a job that deals in export. Overall....... I am very pleased with what I made :cool2:

I stayed in pretty good shape yesterday compared to last May 31 ...... my wife gave me "the warning" the night before :D :D :D
