Roadtrips...

Anyone planning to hit the road to bowhunt another state this year? Application deadlines for some states are going on now. Too late for Kansas unless you applied in April though. That is unless there's tags left over like there was last year.

I'm heading back to Kansas again this year. Got my tags in the mail the other day. Hope to draw an Iowa tag this year too with 2 preference points going into this year's draw. Both places are "do it yourself" private land bowhunts. 2 road trips like that is about all my old body can take anymore. Made 3 last year and learned what my my old geezer limitations are now.

I am taking my oldest daughter on a roadtrip to Wyoming for mulie and antelope with gun this year though, should get our tags the end of this month.

That ought to be a lot of fun. Been there once before over 10 years ago on a spot and stalk bow hunt for mulies.

I also have 2 preference points for Iowa and am hoping to be drawn this year. Good Luck!

Good luck to you too...checked the Iowa DNR site and NR draw results won't be available until July 24th. Used to only be about 3 weeks...they're squeezing into 6 this year.

heading to Kansas for my first time (Norton Kansas) would love to get any info I can on bowhunting in Kansas as I am going in blind but excited!!!

Haven't hunted in northern Kansas but if the trees are anything like where I've hunted, you won't find hardly any you can use a climber in. I take 3 hang on stands and 1 climber with me if I happen to find a tree a climber will work on in Kansas.

No roadtrips planned here for bow season. Sadly, I might not even get to bow hunt at all this year. I am close to getting my associates degree, only a couple semesters left so I want to focus on that. Add to that the fact I have no private land to hunt, and the nearest public land is about 40 minutes away, it makes it hard to find time to get out and scout and hunt. I'll be ready for our annual trip to the U.P. for gun season though :)

Maybe.........I've put some info on a couple outfitters in front of my boss, he is still asking when we are going on a hunt (on his dime of course!)

Oh yea...great way to take care of your clients & get an extra opportunity for yourself at the same time Tom. ;)

Good Luck!!!

Another state no. Another country YES! I'm going on a bowhunting safari in South Africa on a hunt I won in a drawing. I leave in August for Sdudla Safaris. I am extremely excited about returning to Africa. This time my brother is accompanying me to photograph and video the hunt.

S'dudla boasts 55,000 acres of bowhunting only concessions.

This is where I'm going.

The prize included 7 days, warthog and impala. It did not include airfare. I added an eighth day. I also plan to hunt at least three more animals. I've got the cash for a Nyala and a bushbuck. I'm trying to save up for an Eland (it's gonna be tight).

For those that applied for Iowa NR tags...the results are finally available. I was denied for the 3rd year in a row. Needless to say I'm a littled bummed out about it but I still have a Kansas bowhunt planned. Will consider other options for the time period I hoped to be bowhunting in Iowa now.
