MichiganHunter
.....a wicked case of deer huntin fever... I am about to go freaking insane, I've had to put a block on my hunting channels for 1 week because I'm getting the jitters every time I turn it on and see a nice buck or a fat doe walking around. AND it dont help much that I was just give a new farm to deer hunt. it's like 30 acres and is surrounded on the east and west side by non hunting properties 1 of which I might get a chance to hunt also it's full of pine trees and tall grass so perfect bedding, it has a large pond for water and a 4 acre garden. The neighbors to the south, east, west and north are all partial agricultural and the further away from this property you get the less cover and more crops there are. The owners told me they are seeing between 15 and 20 deer a night NOW, and 8-10 different bucks. They owners used to be deer lovers but are now loosing all of their gardens they have put in and want the population TRIMED......wahahahahaha.....:bang::bang::bang::bang:.....I wanna go NOOOOOOOOOOW Edited June 4, 2010 by MichiganHunter

Orion_70
I've had it for the past couple months now. Trying to do some scouting on the weekends, shooting the bow everyday, ordering new stands... Just a little over 3 months to go till bow season opens in mid sept. I've got fever bad
Rhino
Cool...You can scratch that itch by doing some preseason work now. I am. You can spend some time over the next couple of months picking potential stand sites and trimming shooting lanes so you can minimize human disturbance as it gets closer to the season. Also...running trail cameras is about as close as you can get to catch & release deer hunting. You may have the option up there to glass deer from a distance too. MUDRUNNER
Right now I'm good. I have a bunch of other crap keeping me occupied. Once the new season of shows start up next month it will be pretty bad around my house. Then in August I start scouting and hanging stands...September is food plot time and shooting every day....and October 1 will be here before you know it. JimPic
I don't really get excited until mid-September. Actually,I don't even get to my hunting property until the day before the season opens. I might go to the cabin to check on things but I won't walk thru the woods
Ethan Givan
Yeah I get the itch as soon as turkey season is over. I cant wait for september. Im gonna try to get a trail cam out this week if I get the chance. If I start getting lots of good pics it will just fuel the fire though

dbHunterNY
I'm feeling it too. Purchasing a new house with 8 1/2 acres and it's got a creek with a ridge bench and other natural funnel characteristics that run right into the corner of a corn field. Word has it that the area is good hunting and there were even rumors of a 14 pointer there. I'm itching to get some trail cams up, look for sheds, and keep an eye out for deer sporting some antler. Doc
All things in their proper time. Right now I am enjoying the warmth of the summer and all the summery things that there are to do. Somewhere around August, I will start to work the archery equipment a bit. Oh, I'll periodically get the rifles out on the bench and burn up some ammo throughout the summer. And around late September we'll start checking out the trails and stands and try to see what the deer are doing. The practice sessions will lengthen a bit as the weather starts cooling off and the bugs start thinning out. Until then, I'll just keep on lovin' life, soaking up the sun, doing my fishing and camping and working out in the garden and such. Fall will come soon enough, and I'll be ready for it. The only reason I watch hunting shows anymore is to work on my trigger control. I start getting the itch to deer hunt about a week after the season ends. I guess thats what they call Obssesive compulsive. :gun2:
mikebohio
My favorite off season hobby is my trail cams I cant wait for the weekends to roll arround so i can check them. Put in a small food plot two weeks ago and started on a natural ground blind.

Shaun_300
I'm really looking forward to it! The second week of November can't get here soon enough. Without being able to get out at all last year because I was sick, I am really itching! I'm also going to try and get out with the bow in the early part of the archery season to see what I can get. Haven't taken a deer with my new bow yet, hoping to do that this fall as well.

Stinger-Hunter
I quit chewing tobacco yesterday so it could be hunting jitters or a nicotine fit. I've seen a few deer in the past 3 weeks while driving. I'm not there yet. They still look like innocent animals until about September. Then they begin looking like steaks. :gunsmilie:
