wtnhunt
They like pears really well. Used to have Kieffer and Bartlett pears and the deer were in the yard pretty regularly when the pears would drop. Pear trees are typically easy to grow, and grow at a decent rate. Unfortunately our trees got hit by fireblight. Seeing our apple that are supposed to be blight resistant with the blight this year, think a result of this extreme wet weather. dbHunterNY
I haven't heard of a deer turning down any kind of apple. My parent's have different kinds throughout their farm. My parent's also have a pear tree, but it's right in the backyard and doesn't get hit much being so close. Persimmons deer like but I'm not sure if there are climate restraints with those. My favorite apple is a Macoun so that's what I'm planting at the new house. If the deer like it or not then whatever, but as I said I don't know of any deer turning down an apple.
