redkneck
OK, so not exactly a transportation post, but maybe this will help somebody out (this room has gotten slow anyway ) My Craftsman 18hp mower had got almost impossible to shift. I read online about how to take it apart and replace pins and junk that was going to be a major pain. BUT... I pulled the battery and batter box out and noticed a rubber plug in the top of the thing. A quart of gear oil later and all was well, or at least after 2 cuttings it loosened up and ran like new. I think they put some thick grease in there cuz they know gear oil would leak out in a heartbeat in that cheap transaxle, then the dust and stuff invades and it gets stiff big time. Goinghuntin
I had to do that with one of my parents self-propelled walk-behind mowers once. Very helpful piece Redneck Nathan
