redkneck
You know, I have never used anyway. My favorite catfish bait is small live bream, about 3" or so. Depending of course where you're fishing and what size fish your after. Let us know how it goes for you!
LifeNRA
Actually, the best catfish bait is cut bait! Fish for a few smaller fish in whatever water your fishing for cats. Cut them up for bait. Just make sure your local laws allow this!

Cut them up for bait. Just make sure your local laws allow this! Yep a small bluegill cut in half works well. Also used chicken breast cut up in chunks soaked in a mixture of a couple stinkbaits. That recipe caught me and my cousin 24 cats in one day of fishing.
Diamond Archer 01
I have heard that cut up hot dog actually works for catching cat fish. One of my cousins used a hot dog and caught a real nice cat fish.

Yeah they do work, if you can get them to stay on the hook when you cast it lol

Tyler Stroh
I was out fishing the other night and the guy that was fishing down the bank from me was catching a ton of catfish. No monsters, just good eating size. He was using raw hamburger mixed with corn flakes. I laughed at the idea but it seemed to be working for him. My two fish I caught on nightcrawlers were bigger than anything that he reeled in while I was there, but it did catch fish...
billkay
My two favorites are: 1) Hotdog chunks soaked in Strawberry Kool Aid that doesn't already have the sugar added. Add a bit of garlic powder to it. The kool aid gives it color, the hotdog has the oils for a scent trail and the garlic just gives it more scent. 2)About equal parts of raw ground hamburger mixed with corn flakes to make a heavy dough. Add a few drops of vanilla to it.

Orion_70
For dough baits, you're only limited by your imagination and what your targeting or how you're using it. I've used it in large chunks to chum a spot and on trotlines. Like most others have said cut bait or live shad/bream work best. I've had great success with peanut butter, corn meal, and anise oil mixed together. You can also mix in sardines or ground up chicken livers in blood in the concoction. Works great.
