Ravin R10 man
we always just use a good .22 cal with a red dot
dbHunterNY
Many here use just a semi-auto .22 LR with a working scope. As said a red dot or illuminated reticle will work better at night if you can hunt then. When it's tree'd you don't need to shoot too far, but I do know of others using 22 mags as well. I'd think a cheap semi-auto .22 LR with a well functioning red dot would work, just as said.

wtnhunt
Depends on what you want to spend. Use a rock river varmint model here. Been pretty happy with that rifle for yote hunting.
redkneck
I don't own one, but would think you couldn't go wrong with anything in a .223, but there's so many calibers to choose from. Like William said, it's all about your budget.
dbHunterNY
Cheap budget - just use your most accurate deer rifle. Modest budget - get a cheaper but quality bolt in 223 or 22-250, like a t/c venture. Good budget - get a very accurate bolt gun like a savage model 10, model 12, or remington 700 varminter. Fat happy budget - get good accuracy with fast hesitation free follow-ups in an AR-15 platform in 223 but even flatter and faster 22-250. rockriver, dpms, bushmaster, remington, stag, armalite, colt, and smith&wesson all make them. coon dog
Thanks guy, that narrows the decision down drastically.
hunterbobb
I use a Remington Model 7 Predator in .223. I'm new to coyote hunting but I bet if I ever get one close this combo will be deadly.
Diamond Archer 01
I have always seen people using .223's.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I use a savage 22-250 with hornady bullet, puts a heck of a hole in them. I've seen several yotes over the last week, would be a good time to call one in.
bucknut
My Tikka T3 in .22-250 puts a pretty good hurtin on those prairie poodles. Anything in .204,.223,.220 Swift,.22-250, or .243 makes for a awesome coyote round.
mcgyverit
I am using an old Remington 700 in .222. other than ammo being tough to find, it shoots awesome. Now I just need to find some yote's.
Ethan Givan
I prefer a Reminton 700 in .243. I like a little more punch than a .20 or .22 caliber bullet. I dont know about other places but the yotes around here are tough and can hold the lead suprisingly well.
tom wayman
i use a mini 14 by ruger in the 223 cal with a illumanateted scope what the other guys say here is good ones too.the 22.250 222.243.30.30 22 hornet r good ones if u can n if u set up for them take a dhotgun with full choke with turkey #5 shot for close shots . use my 20 ga with them
dbHunterNY
.....set up for them take a shotgun with full choke with turkey #5 shot for close shots . use my 20 ga with them Good advice there. If you can bring a shotgun with a good patterning load that's big like buckshot or any of the coyote loads out there now. You don't have to, but on occasion it may be helpful if you know shots will be close. When you go put a thick stick or something under the barrel, so the gun is elevated off the ground. This would allow you to grab it quick. Keeping your scope turned down to the lowest power until you see a coyote way out there helps under most conditions.
