RTPROFamily
I do not smoke but I do not think the gov. should tell you what to do. In IL. smoking bans have been in force and the bars and some restaurants now have outside decks with a bar and a place to eat and smoke. It is all outdoors and just for the smokers. They lost a lot of business until they figured out this solution. I would rather someone smoke a carton of cigarettes and drive a car than a six pack of alcohol and drive. Wait until they regulate the alcohol next. It is coming I'm sure.
firedaddy78
Delaware has been a non-smoking state for years. It's been ok with me even as a smoker. Only thing that makes me made is when a non-smoker comes outside and nags about the smoke outside. Well i don't know what to tell you then. But it's been pretty good. Goinghuntin
I dont smoke but I do not agree with the bans. I do not think its the governments right to force people to do this. If it were only harmful to the smoker then I would say the government has no right stepping in there. But it harms everyone else around so I figure it becomes a public health issue. Just my two cents. Nathan
Ashley
I never have, nor will I be, a smoker, so I personally love this. I used to work in a bar for about four years and I hated coming home every night smelling like a walking cigarette -- my clothes, my hair, everything. It was disgusting. Then the owner of the bar developed health problems and they ended up making the bar smoke free for his sake. Since I don't smoke, it's a little hard for me to see the other side of things because I see absolutely no benefits at all from smoking. However, I understand that people don't like being told by the government what they can and cannot due, as far as their personal habits go. With the rising price of cigarettes, though, how many people are going to be able to afford to smoke? The last time I was in the checkout line at Wal-Mart, I noticed the cigarettes behind the clerk were $9.00+ for a pack of Marlboro's! Yikes, pretty expensive price someone is paying to kill themselves quicker.

Tecumseh
I quit smoking 10 yeras ago but I think it's BS telling a bar or restaurants owners what they can and can't do in thier business!
Nut
I do not have a problem with smoking restrictions as a whole. But it always seems funny on how it is okay to restrict them and then they are the first choice in raising taxes. Alcohol has more users so that is where the taxes should be also. $1.00 tax on a bottle of beer would help the shortfalls pretty quick don't you think? Then you have Vegans and PETA would ban the eating of meat since they say it is so awful also. Where do you stop? Sounds like quite a lot of liberal philosophies to me. When I used to work at a gas station in high school, a pack of Marbs was right around $4.75. It's crazy how much they have went up. I don't know if it has anything to do with the area or not, we're pretty rural, so maybe that has something to do with it. Oh well, I have far better things to spend my money on! toddyboman
I'm a BIG BIG fan of this. Only certain places in MO have established this law......Illinois has it state wide as stated above. Illinois is about 45 minutes away from where I live so WE love to go over there and go out to eat or enjoy the town and not come home smelling like cig smoke.
