njbowhntr
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with the Cryo-Accurizing process? Pros and Cons... Thanks
AJ
Re: Cryo-Accurizing??? I have had three different barrels croy'd. The first one was my .17 Remington 700 BDL. I had the barreled action cryoed as a unit. I also had a NEF Handi Rifle .223 Rem cryoed. The last one was a custom barrel from Pac-Nor. Its on my Rem 700 chambered in 300 Wby Mag. It too was frozen with the action as a unit. When it was all done, the barrels shot similar sized groups. Cleaning was not easier or harder than before. Fouling was the same also. Basically, the only difference was my wallet was $150 lighter. IMO, its snake oil. It does not do any measurable difference. Save your money for ammo or have a good gunsmith do a bedding job. It will do more for accuracy than the cryo job does.

AJ
Re: Cryo-Accurizing??? Not that has been proven. Common sence will do a lot more for barrel life than cryo will. Don't over heat the barrel. Keep the rate of fire down and it will last a decent time. The cartridge that is being fired has the most to do with how long the barrel will last. Overbore cartridges that hold a lot of powder will shorten the life considerably.
Tominator
Re: Cryo-Accurizing??? I see that Benelli is starting to cryo their barrels standard now. Seems to be a big selling point. Personally, I don't have any experience with them.
too_pointer
Re: Cryo-Accurizing??? Probably another selling gimmick, especially if it hasn't been proven one way or another. I'm sure people will buy it for that reason, too bad a big name company stoops that low to sell a few extra guns though too_pointer
