Every time I watch this movie I realize once again the terrible price that must be paid for the freedoms that I enjoy everyday, and that all too often I take for granted. A HUGE thanks to all who have served and are serving now. I SUPPORT OUR TROOPS 100%!!!!!!! And may God bless you all!

That is an excellent movie.

Randy actually knows one of the men from the actual mission.

Dale Sizemore one of the actual rangers who was on the Somali mission. In the movie, he was the one with the broken arm.

Dale is a good friend of Randy's and he lives in IL. about 3 hours from us.

Dale gave Randy a copy of Black Hawk Down the book with autographs from all of the surviving rangers in it. Randy treasures it very much.

It is a great movie. A few months ago, I went to a prayer breakfast in Columbus, the keynote speaker was Jeff Struecker. Here is a little about him from The Gathering's website:

U.S. Army Captain Jeff Struecker is a decorated military veteran who played a prominent role in the blood-chilling rescue effort in Mogadishu, Somalia, East Africa that rescued downed helicopter crewmen and secured the capture of genocidal warlord, Mohamed Farrah Aidid. This dangerous 1993 rescue mission was later portrayed in the national best-seller book and movie, “Black Hawk Down.”

In the streets of Mogadishu, Struecker faced his greatest fears. He was forced to rely on his skills and deepfaith to bring him through some of the most intense combat the U.S. Military had seen since the Vietnam War.

His combat experience includes Operation Just Cause in Panama, Operation Iris Gold in Kuwait; Operation Gothic Serpent, in Mogadishu, Somalia; Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has received numerous awards.

Commissioned in 2000 and now serving as an Army Chaplain, Jeff has been married to his wife Dawnfor fifteen years. They have five children: Aaron, Jacob, Joseph, Abagail and Lydia.

It made me angry every time I saw it knowing that Clinton wouldn't let his commanders use air support because it would look bad for the U.S.. I believe they wanted armed C-130's (A-130's) to help out and crush the bad guys. These guys had unbelieveably large kahoni's going into that hellhole knowing this. They're the best.
