What kind of hunter are you?

I am a little of both. I am not that picky but I sure do try and give it all I got to get a trophy but. This was my first season of hunting so I am not that picky yet. I do hunt for meat. Lets put it thyis way. I love to see deer meat opn the table just as much as I like to see big antlers up on the wall.

I hunt spot and stalk. It is a challenge and I love walkin threw the hills. It just seems so rewarding after all of the countless miles and countless stalks once you finally get a deer.

Throphy, Throphy, Throphy. I've shot enough does in my life that I don't need to shoot anymore. Plus the DNR in Wisconsin has made sure everyone else is shooting enough does to manage the heard. I think I am actually helping the heard by not killing any does.

I hunt mostly from an elevated tree stand and I prefer to hunt with a rifle.

I do some still hunting in the big woods and I do hunt with a bow and muzzel loader also. I spend probably 30 days a year hunting deer.

Both. I let small bucks go and wait for a mature buck. I can put meat in the freezer with does. I treestand hunt mostly, and I will shoot a doe in early bow season. When November rolls around does get a pass. If I still have a tag in the late part of bow season during december or January then the does are in trouble again.

Yep, same way with me.

Start of bow season i try and kill a doe. whenever i get one ill start looking for a mature buck. then if I don't get one and its getting close to the end of season Ill try and kill another doe.

And Shotgun season. I wait for a mature buck. if its the last day of season Ill kill a doe. If i don't get one then oh well.

As long as i have meat that's good enough!

Depends on what state I'm hunting. MN - meat hunter. If it is brown it is down. You get ridiculed and ostracized if you don't pull the trigger. Besides if you don't want the meat, someone else will take it up there.

Indiana - a bit of a trophy hunter at heart, but to be honest, whatever crosses my path gets shot.

Illinois - same thing. After I get my first one, then I get a bit more particular.

Peace,

Stinger

i like to pack the freezer with a few good does and hold out for my buck, as ive gotten older ive been looking for mature bucks, the younger me didnt care a bow kill was a bow kill. nowadays,i only shoot 4yr and up. im not much of a gun hunter id rather hunt with a bow any days of week or weekend, but when my hunting location calls for a longer reach during gun season i only bring out the smoke pole

I little of everything. I've just bought a small piece of property that's a good hunting spot. If a trophy is around I'll be a trophy hunter. More than likely I'll be a meat hunter until then. I can't really be a management hunter (disregarding the harvesting of does), because the bucks don't seem to get old enough to tell most of the time.

I'll hunt out of a broken down car in the weeds if that's what's dealt to me. I've got and use all types of treestands, ground blinds, and I also still hunt. I've even spot and stalked on a lower scale here in the northeast.

It depends on the situations. Early season I am more of a trophy hunter and seeing what is around for deer quality. But as the season progresses and I have no meat in the freezer I become a meat hunter and start letting them drop. I will hunt in many different ways from stand hunting to spot and stalk or my favorite is still hunting with my bow and arrow.

I'm more of a meat hunter. Our "style" is mainly drives in the morning, eat lunch and relax for an hour or two in the camp, then either another chase or sit for a few hours. Eat dinner, then sit til dark. Basically everything gets shot at in my group. Unless we know for sure it's a fawn or a really small one, or we don't have a doe tag.

I'm a trophy hunter first. I've been hunting since was 16, I'm 37 now. I enjoy watching wildlife but shooting little immature bucks just don't do it for me. I quit killing immature bucks in my mid 20s. After seeing my first really big whitetail, big racks, thick swollen necks and big bodies is what gives me chills, that rush, that buck fever.

But after I've shot a good mature deer, I will shoot 2 or 3 does near the end of the season to put some meat in freezer & for people at work.
