Just before 2pm this afternoon an earthquake rattled this area, the center was in southwestern Quebec just north of Ottawa. :jaw: I was roadtesting a vehicle at the time so I didn't notice it, but they sure felt it back at the shop. Lots of buildings in the city were evacuated. Luckily no one was hurt.

Yeah they say it was felt as far as Boston, Cleveland, and Chicago. There was one in 2006 that I felt, I was actually sitting in this very spot doing the same thing, on the forums, when it happened. We live right on a fault line here, I often feel little tremors but not anything that makes the news like this sucker did. The one in 06 also made the news and was one of the bigger ones for this area.

I was in my classroom. I was watching the news highlights on tv when the steel beams in my building started to creak and groan. Thought it was odd then it did it again. I looked at my computer and it was wobbling like a bobblehead doll.

My wife was at home and she thought I was going to loose all of my wine when the bottles started rattling and clinking together.

I heard 55km (30 miles) north of Ottawa in southern Quebec. It sure rattled Ottawa though, they were saying the high rise buildings were swaying. In Gracefield, QC it collapsed a bridge and knocked a chimney down on an old church. It definitely was not a little tremor! My dad works in Ottawa and he said it rattled the building so bad there was dust flying down from the ceiling tiles.

I was at the rifle range sighting in my .50 cal in-line when it supposedly hit and I never noticed a thing. I guess I must have mistaken any earth shattering quivers for the rumblings of the .50 cal going off. I'm just about 60 miles south of Shaun and likely 100 miles from the reported epicenter of this recent 5 ranging quake. My daughter from Ottawa called me later that night and was talking about the quake. I slept through the last quake that also supposedly hit this area 7 or 8 years ago and I never noticed a thing then either.

The only thing that I've actually ever felt in regards to earth shaking, was when the local Dupont plant (Maitland Works) had a hydrogen explosion about 10 years ago. It happened at around 5:00 a.m. in the morning, and I thought a truck had run into the front of my house and I'm about 3 miles from the plant. The shock wave was felt up to 15 miles away. It shattered virtually every window in the plant. Lucky no one was killed.
