Shaun_300
Just before 2pm this afternoon an earthquake rattled this area, the center was in southwestern Quebec just north of Ottawa. :jaw: I was roadtesting a vehicle at the time so I didn't notice it, but they sure felt it back at the shop. Lots of buildings in the city were evacuated. Luckily no one was hurt. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Bois+quake+rattles+Ottawa+eastern+North+America/3191688/story.html

Diamond Archer 01
No joke I actually felt it here in NY. It was all over the radio and I was helping my uncle move and we saw the UHAUL start to shake and rattle a little bit and we just looked at eachother and said thats so weird and we didn't know wat it was. Then we heard it on the radio not 5 minutes later. Pretty wild.

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I didn't feel it, but apparently it was felt by some all the way over here in Michigan. Reports of it being felt from Saginaw down towards the Detroit area.
doog3
ya we heard about it was big news they broke into the tv shows with it and the same with radio broadcasts
Shaun_300
Yeah they say it was felt as far as Boston, Cleveland, and Chicago. There was one in 2006 that I felt, I was actually sitting in this very spot doing the same thing, on the forums, when it happened. We live right on a fault line here, I often feel little tremors but not anything that makes the news like this sucker did. The one in 06 also made the news and was one of the bigger ones for this area.
dbHunterNY
Yea people were talking about it today. I didn't feel a thing. When did this happen??
Diamond Archer 01
The truck started making the noise where I was a little before 2 so I assume around that time.

gzilla45
We felt it here in central WI as well. My office building swayed back and forth for about 30 seconds. I thought there was something wrong with me and that my vision was going. It was pretty crazy.

RangerClay
I was in my classroom. I was watching the news highlights on tv when the steel beams in my building started to creak and groan. Thought it was odd then it did it again. I looked at my computer and it was wobbling like a bobblehead doll. My wife was at home and she thought I was going to loose all of my wine when the bottles started rattling and clinking together.

Goinghuntin
That's some crazy stuff. Last year we had a very small one here in Iowa, I never felt it cause I was at work driving a forklift that rattles anyway but my family back at home in bed all felt it. RangerClay
Looks like the epicenter was Ottawa Shaun. :jaw:
Shaun_300
I heard 55km (30 miles) north of Ottawa in southern Quebec. It sure rattled Ottawa though, they were saying the high rise buildings were swaying. In Gracefield, QC it collapsed a bridge and knocked a chimney down on an old church. It definitely was not a little tremor! My dad works in Ottawa and he said it rattled the building so bad there was dust flying down from the ceiling tiles. TBow
I was at the rifle range sighting in my .50 cal in-line when it supposedly hit and I never noticed a thing. I guess I must have mistaken any earth shattering quivers for the rumblings of the .50 cal going off. I'm just about 60 miles south of Shaun and likely 100 miles from the reported epicenter of this recent 5 ranging quake. My daughter from Ottawa called me later that night and was talking about the quake. I slept through the last quake that also supposedly hit this area 7 or 8 years ago and I never noticed a thing then either. The only thing that I've actually ever felt in regards to earth shaking, was when the local Dupont plant (Maitland Works) had a hydrogen explosion about 10 years ago. It happened at around 5:00 a.m. in the morning, and I thought a truck had run into the front of my house and I'm about 3 miles from the plant. The shock wave was felt up to 15 miles away. It shattered virtually every window in the plant. Lucky no one was killed. TBow
