Strut10
Returned home from Canada the western route earlier this week. Crossed into the US at Grand Portage, MN and took RTE 61S to Duluth. Then took RTE 53S thru Wisconsin to Eau Claire where we caught I-94/90 to Madison. Took I-39S to LaSalle, IL where we caught I-80E home. How close was I to your house??? gzilla45
At one point you were 90.1 miles west while passing through Osseo and then were 75.8 miles south while driving past Portage. I'm sure that was a beautiful trip home. The drive around the great lakes is awesome.

Strut10
glad to hear you had a good trip and are safely home. Didn't say I had a good trip. The reason we took the western route home is to have U.S. cell phone service for when my brother's RV broke down again. The trip was an absolute abortion due to mechanical failures on that darned RV. :bang: Caught some walleyes. But the whole trip was a disaster. Shaun_300
Just looked at the map, I'd say your closest point to me was when you were leaving your driveway. Sault Ste. Marie is about the same distance as it is from here to your place. 450 miles to the Sault from here.
Strut10
Ontario is a big ol' place, ain't she??
Rhino
Not even close enough to cypher Don. The RV breaking down reminds me of my 1st trip to S. Dakota back in the 80's. The van broke down several times getting there. Was wondering if we ever would. Wasn't fun at all getting there going non-stop excluding the breakdowns from MS. Learned my lesson & went 3 more times there...all by air.

Shaun_300
Ontario is a big ol' place, ain't she?? Darn tootin' it is! I live about 90 miles from the eastern border of Quebec, if I wanted to get to the Manitoba border it'd be nearly a 1500 mile drive. Dad said he and his friend went out to Alberta for a summer to work after highschool, driving straight alternating drivers, it took 24 hours to hit Winnipeg, MB which isn't far out of Ontario. Strut10
Yep. It's aboot 650 miles from the Sault to Ignace and you're still 150+ to Manitoba from there. Long old haul around Giche Gumme. We actually ran aboot 5 miles of dirt road on HWY 17!!!
billkay
About 10 miles when you were on I-80. I am about 10 miles south when you crossed I-65.
