Goinghuntin
What do you guys use to remove rust off of gun barrels? Black, blued, and stainless barrels. Do you use the same product for all three? Nathan

hunterbobb
It depends on how serious the rust is. If it is just light surface rust a quick spray of Rem Oil and make sure I leave a light coat of oil on the gun. If it is badly rusted and pitted soak it in Rem oil overnight and then I use a product called a rust eraser. It is similar to a one of those gum pencil erasers but is more course. I don't know where I got it or if it is still available. I haven't seen one forever. I then literally erase the rust. some times the bluing requires a quick touch up with a cold blueing product. Brownells makes the best one I've found. Can't remember that name either. I'm at work so I can't check my workbench. Hope it helps a little. Will actually also work for rust as well. Usually use rem oil here as well when it is just light rust. Deeper rust have used iosso paste and had pretty good results.
