I've hit a wall..........

Been dieting and exercising for about close to 4 months now. I've totally changed the way I eat and think about food. Stopped cokes all together around the 3rd week in march. Just got on the scale one day and didn't like what it said. I started thinking of all the people I know that have died by 40 from heart attacks and such. I want to see my kids kids.

As of today I'm 235..........Started at 279. So I'm down 45 lbs, feel a ton better, and my bp is down. Seems though like the last 3 weeks I'm just not breaking the 235 wall..........I jog 4 nights a week, workout on Wii fit 2 nights, and normally rest on sundays. Have been under alot of stress though.

While I'm here I might as well update the rest of the summer so you guys have something to read and maybe it will keep you from arguing for at least a few minutes. Both my girls softball teams went undefeated. They worked hard and I'm very proud. My sister got married this last weekend to a super guy. We have almost completed siding on the garage. My duck dog is doing good and recovered nicely from the broke leg.

Haven't had much time to get on but glad to see that most are still here.

Congrats on the weight loss. Its normal to level off like you described. Your body has adjusted to the exercise. It doesnt have to burn any extra fat and glycogen now. You might have to make your exercising a little more intense to keep losing, while maintaining your diet. Cutting out the intake of sugars helps alot. Good luck

Like Ethan said, it's pretty normal to hit a wall like this. It'll seem like you aren't accomplishing anything, but if you keep at it you'll push thru it and start seeing results again. Just keep remembering how much better you'll be feeling during hunting season!

Glad to hear your family is doing well.

Went through that last year hutch. My situation was high cholestrol. Along with watching what I ate was exercise. Weight dropped do to that but I was also a little overweight. There was a point where I hit a wall with my weight loss too...then it started coming off slowly again. Hang in there & stay away from any fast foods. ;)

BTW...congrats to the girls & their softball teams!

If you do the Wii fit exercises seriously it will really give you a good workout. The jackknife crunches will tighten abs quickly. It also has yoga, aerobic exercises, even some boxing workouts. Main thing seems like with it is if you use the proper form like it shows it will give you a better workout. Also lets you track weight, BMI, and you can keep a log of what you did even if you weren't on the Wii(like when I jog). I think the big thing is though that you aren't just sitting in some gym working out bored. It keep you entertained and it will tell you do this, this, and this to achieve better abs or this this and this for stronger upper body.

Hitting a Plateau is very normal in any exercise or weight loss. Even when benching or lifting you will plateau and not go up unless you change the way things are done.

You dont necessarly have to get more intense, just change the way you do things and your body will react differently. If youre jogging try intreval training meaning jog 100 yards, then sprint 100 yards, then jog 100 yards, etc. Your body is pre-design to use as little energy as possible. Once it gets use to the way you do things it will conserve. Thats why you can see someone doing hard labor and remaining large. Their body adjust to their daily activity.

A good rule of thumb in any exercise routine is to change the way you do it every 6-8 weeks. Even the hard core body builders do that for gains. You can stick with what youre doing and it will work but it will be slow. If I were you I would change the routine, change it again, and then go back to the original and start over. It makes a HUGE difference.

Keep in mind there are some great exercises that cost little to nothing and burn the heck out of callories.

Punch in front of a mirror (after 5 minutes youre jello.)

Draw a cinder block with a rope while jogging.

Carry two car tires on over your arms when running (isolation)

Hit an old large tire (think tractor tire) with a sledge hammer over and over

etc.....
