NiteRunner
Is this good or bad? Truck is a 1999 F-150, Triton V8, Auto, with just over 100,000 Miles. Current owner says the Tranny is slipping on occasion when the truck is in overdrive... Is this something to stay far, far away from? Could the Tranny be going? Looks like a not so bad truck other than that, any help?
redkneck
I'd stay away from it, unless the price is low enough you could drop a good used tranny in it if you had to. A slipping auto can be BAD news.
Shaun_300
I'd be staying far far away from that one Laura. Sounds like the torque converter clutch is slipping in it, when that happens all the debris goes through the whole transmission and valve body. Unless you can find a used transmission for a decent price I'd look for another truck. Labor to R&R a transmission in a 4x4 truck is usually around 9 hours, 7 hours for a 2 wheel drive. Approx. NiteRunner
Scratch that one off the list then.... And the search continues! Thanks guys! I'll probably have some more questions soon!
Goinghuntin
Last time I had that one happen to me it was as simple as low fluid level. But like the other guys said, if you can get him to lower the price, it could be worth it in the end. Nathan
Ethan Givan
My truck started to do that last year and I eventually had to have my transmission completely rebuilt. Cost me half of what the truck is worth.
