Buying a new truck

Recommended Posts

Been looking for a new truck for a little while now, mainly perusing to see what is out there, and prices. Found pretty much exactly what I want last night, 2010 Chevy 4x4 WT with power windows, locks and mirrors, and the 5.3l V8. My only concern is it has the 3.08 gear ratio, and my Tahoe has the 3.42, which I know what my mileage is with that. Think there will be much of a difference with the higher? I won't be doing alot of towing, mainly my four wheeler, so that's not much of an issue either. I'm just worried that the engine will work harder getting to speed, and cost me in the long run. But I also know that the higher one should be better on the highway, and that's alot of my driving style. Any opinions?

Those gears will be fine for MPG. Highway speed you will get better MPGS. When you will notice the higher gear set, will be in a year or so when you jump up a tire size or two. Anyhow, sounds like a good truck and if I were in your shoes, I would be looking forward to the gas savings and not the other way around. You will be golden.
