house progress

Have not posted any pics lately. Been pretty busy since getting our inspections passed to move forward.

Got our loft beams stained and got the floor down last week. Heat was a bit of an issue working up there.

Got to finish the pantry, not sure what I am going to do with the top of it yet. Cabinet man coming out next week to layout the floor and walls in the kitchen for me.

Ceiling in most of the house will be clear coated the same as the kitchen ceiling, we have 2 coats on about 1/4 of those boards. Hoping the hvac people finish up this week and insulation people get out early next week, then will get a scaffold rented and start closing up the ceilings.

Pic of the front.

Looks great William! I assume that is a finished ceiling above the pantry? I would just finish the boards on up to the floor above, notching them around the one floor joist. so your wood walls go on up and meet the bottom of the floor upstairs. Maybe leave a 1/4 inch gap though so you don't get any squeeks. Just an idea. Sure is a beautiful home!

How'd your rough inspection go?

Went well on my parts as far as plumbing and electrical, building inspector complemented the plumbing. Contractor had a few things to fix.

Some of the plumbing was a bit tricky, thanks again Matt for answering questions on that stuff. Getting the tub vent and the overflow drain for the tub and shower tied together and to the main drain took a bit of time and scratching my head to get worked out.

Man, kind of brings back nightmares though. :D

Ummm, nightmares yeah really and lack of sleep and dead tired from trying to get this stuff done. Has not helped we ended up with a contractor who does not seem to want to finish anything and has left me doing quite a bit of work he was supposed to do.

Yep. Those 2 inch loft floor boards are the ceiling for the kitchen and dining room. They are already finished with 2 coats of clear. The 2 center pantry boards on the front are not nailed down yet, not sure yet how I am going to trim the top of it, may go with a crown mold all the way around to match the cabinets.

Interior finish to the walls will match the beams when we are done or at least be close to the same color, using the same stain.

Somewhere I must have missed the pic of my bedroom??? :D

It's looking great William! Ok,.......get back to work! That's enough screwing around on the forums for one day!

LOL, caught me slacking eh.;)

Been at it today since pretty early, had to take a couple breaks for the kids. Think I have had about as much staining as I can take for one day. Gonna have to post some pics of my redneck scaffold. Time to get supper ready now.

You know you are welcome here anytime bud.

Couldn't imagine doing all that myself. I gave myself an ulcer, and I didn't do anything except make sure the contractor did it the way we wanted it done. :camera:

It sure is looking good William. The interior beams turned out great.

That Centol sure is good stuff for doing log homes on the exterior too.

Looking really good buddy.;)

Yep, that sikkens cetol seems to be some good stuff alright. Got to thank Steve for his recommendation on the stains and for answering all my questions.

Those beams took a good bit of time to sand, hopefully the walls clean up a little easier.

Got to say thank you again to Anthony for all his help on the electrical too, finished up wiring the inside of my panel this afternoon.

Looking forward to the invite to the house warming, William. The way it looks it shouldn't be long. I have to commend you for all you had to deal with to get it this far. Great looking place it will be. ;)

Of course you are welcome anytime Mike, hoping we will be finished up and all moved in before Christina and I head out to Wyoming this fall.

William....ANYTHING I can do to help.

It is looking just great! You guys will have a marvelous home to enjoy and grow into :).

Sweat equity to the 10th power there William.

I see you are leaving lots of slack to work with at the elect boxes :). It is easier to shape them that way.

Looks like time for those devices huh?

I have a box to pack;).
