de_ballew
Oil has been leaking in the gulf since 2004 when a platforn was destroyed by hurricane Ivan. http://www.louisianasportsman.com/lpca/index.php?section=reports&event=view&action=full_report&id=77603 Why hasn't this been fixed? redkneck
There's no telling the volume of oil leaking in smaller amounts across the gulf from other wells. I guess small amounts nature can handle on her own, but I'd sure like to think somebody in the gov't was quantifying it, or at least trying to. I'm all for offshore drilling and limited government, but if anyone thinks all the oil companies are going to be honest and upfront about what they're spilling and face the potential fines, I'd say they were a tad naive.
