LifeNRA
Thinking about my September beach vacation. Ill be doing more surf fishing this year. While getting some things ahead, I remembered that Ill need a sand spike. So while getting the materials which included the 2" PVC pipe. Thought Ill make that target stand as well. Now I have the wood for the stand, just didn't have them in for the pic. Here is the web site I got the instructions for the target stand. http://www.nwtf.org/tv_magazines/images/GITG_PVC_target_stand.pdf Here is the sand spikes, I only needed one, but with the materials I bought I made two. All the metal fasteners are stainless, the spike is aluminum. The way I figured, the target stand cost about $12 to make, the sand spikes cost $38 for the pair. Not bad when spikes like this cost anywhere from $25 to $40 a piece from what I seen on line here. By the way, to make all three you will need only one ten foot PVC pipe. Seven foot needed for the target stand, three foot for the spikes. Edited July 5, 2010 by LifeNRA
bluelund79
Awesome. Those sand spikes are right handy for beach fishing! My son and I have the materials to make a similar stand, but it will be for setting our bows against while shooting in the yard, basically you add 2 crossbars to the center section, and another along the bottom to keep the cams out of the dirt, wrap in camo duct tape and add some of the cheapo hang on cup holders....We got red duct tape because its his favorite colors, and when I am able to do the work, I'll post the finished product-won't be for awhile though, back surgery is a pain to recover from.... BowJoe
A great bow hanger is simpler than you think. One 6' treated 4X4 sunk 2' in the ground. One 5' treated 2X4 across the top with 5 screw through the top and 4 hooks screwed into the bottom side of the 2X4. Add a couple of 3" PVC pipes with a cap on bottom and holes drilled in the cap to allow water to drain. Makes a great arrow holder as well. Great for the backyard and permanent range. Good to go and lasts for years. Mine's still up and working great.
