Dead Down Wind.

Any fans out there, I had a doe and fawn encounter two years ago, they were between 10ft and 15 ft from me and I never got busted, even when the wind switched in their favor. I gotta buy it again!!!

Ive had does come up within 8 feet of me while turkey hunting and never knew I was there, and I had no scent eliminators or scent free clothing on. Sometimes they just dont smell you. I dont think anything works 100% but H.S. Scent-a-way is what I use. Ive had lots of deer come in close and where Ive walked without them smelling me after spraying down with it.

Were you in a stand? That close even if the wind blows in their direction, it would go right over them. Im not saying to not buy it, Im just saying I wouldnt give it all the credit. Sometimes things just work out that way, just like how I didnt get busted by those does turkey hunting. It was dead calm, but at less than 8 feet, it doesnt matter.

I was on the ground as well, wind was blowing in their direction... nothing happened. Your right though, it might have just been a blessing not to been busted.

I do like using the lip balm and lotion that they have. I tried the scent elimination spray a couple of years ago, and it seemed to have kind of a smoky aroma to it that I didn't really care for. I generally like a spray with an earth scent, but I have a few buddies that swear by DDW.

Best to wash yourself and you hunting clothes with scent free soaps prior to going afield. For scent sprays, I use various brands including one where you mix it up fresh the day you need it. I even use the dirt scent covers/wafers and the ThermaCell dirt scent bug away stuff. I also stay pretty much motionless as much as possible in a blind or not.

Those little "Pac Man" dudes eat all the stink off of you, so the deer can't smell you. At least thats what the commercial says.

I always used Scent Away and still have some I use. I brew my own now and it works just as good and about 1/20th the cost.

Funny how that works with turkey hunting.

Too many times to count have had deer(both does and bucks) come in from downwind and never bust me, and that with just good scent precautions(clothes washed and stored in totes and me taking scent free showers).

Never tried the dead down wind, but have used and do still use scent away spray.

Yep. Have had deer walk in from my downwind side and walk literally under my ladder and them never have a clue I was there.
