Casey
I don't know why, but I don't think he'll win a championship next year with the Heat. I think he made the right decision to leave the Cavs, but I think the bulls would have been a better choice. I do think he will win a few championships with Miami, but not next year! Bowtech_archer07
Casey, Boston is getting too old to compete. Their dynasty is going to fall apart. Orlando is a strong team. Dwight Howard is more of a freak of nature than LeBron, i'll give you that. It's gonna be a tough Eastern Conf. for a long time now with Orlando and Miami having the teams they have. And the fact that the NBA isn't really a team oriented league is going to help Miami. Having 3 superstars like that will definitely help their chances. Not saying it's definitely gonna happen, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go on a run like L.A. has in recent years... JMO
colts1888
Not a fan of the Cavs but i kinda feel bad for the fans. I personally did not like the way James handled things. A one hr TV special was classless. I have always thought Lebron was a bit of a fraud to be honest. I thought in the last playoff series that James quit on his team. If his intentions were to leave and play with Wade and Bosh all along, then i could see a reason for him to tank games. How would he explain to the fans that he wanted to leave to win if he had just won a title? It's been reported these 3 made a deal in the 08 olympics to play together. So i don't believe James at all when he says he made his decision yesterday morning. This decision was made long ago and the last week was nothing but an act, a joyride if you will, full of reality tv cameras and all. BTW, the owner of the Cavs is furious! lol
gzilla45
I thought that his TV "special" was totally classless. What a slap in the face to the Cleveland fans. Honestly who has a one hour special to announce where they are going in free agency. I have a feeling he opened a can of worms up and others will do this in the future. I would have rather watched a baseball game between the 2 worst teams in the MLB. I hope all 3 of them injure their big toes and can't play this year. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I really didn't mind the "special." If the guy was going to pocket the money my reaction would have been different. But the entire proceeds went to the boys and girls club. This is one of the biggest free agent signings that I can remember, so if the guy can use it as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause then so be it. JoshM
Dan Gilbert laying the smackdown down! http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.html I dont like that he's leaving but considering he left 30 million on the table speaks for itself. It shows that he's playing to get the ring and not the money which is something i like.

gzilla45
I agree the owner went a little nuts but he just did have the face of his franchise host a TV special on himself to announce that he is leaving and then try to make it seem ok because he donated some money to a charity. I can understand why he left but a classy player would have had a quick press conference and been done with it in 10 minutes instead of taking an entire hour to talk about yourself. I guess I feel for Cleveland because they are a small market team like my Bucks and I was hoping they could finally win something. Anywho....Fear the Deer!!! VABuckSlayer
This was second only to waiting on Farve to make a decision! Getting to be a popular thing with the big athletic stars. AdvantageTimberLou
I can't see how Gilbert thinks the Cavs will win a Championship before LeBron does. He gave them 7 years, no rings to show for it. With that rant that Gilbert wrote, I believe their was some tension going on there. All I know is, Tom Izzo is a genius! buckbuster11
Lebron could win 3 championships in Miami and it will not come close to meaning what winning 1 in Cleveland would mean.. He just killed his career with this. Scoring titles, MVP's...all that goes away. Even if he does win a ring he will always be looked at as a sellout that couldn't do it on his own. And what was strange is he looked like somebody had a gun to his head during that whole interview. I thought he was going to bust out into tears several times. Very strange.:jaw:

More and more is coming out about the guy now that he's gone. Running up huge tabs at local establishments and not tipping. Him and his crew eating places and expecting not to have to pay. Keeping most of the team out until sunrise to celebrate his MVP trophy the night before game 2 of the Boston series. Whatever, let him win 5 rings, he'll never be known as one of the greats like you said. I tell you what, Jordan would have NEVER done this. He had too much pride and confidence. TN Bucknasty
We are witnessing the birth of a dynasty and a new era in the NBA. An era when people are willing to sacrifice a little green so they can win a little gold. Making the comparison between this trio and the "Big Three" from Boston is very funny to me. These are three of the best to play the game and they are joining forces in thier prime. Anyone who thinks that they will have trouble working together clearly did not watch the Olympics. They also haven't paid close attention to the work ethic of all three superstars. With the new additions of Mike Miller, Big Z, Juwan Howard, etc. they will smoke Boston without a doubt and they should dominate Orlando. I am really having a hard time understanding why 75% of people don't like the combination. Could it be that they are more focused on individual records or because they are fearful of a lack of competition? I'm really not sure. I've been wishing for something like this to happen since I was a little kid. Here's my prediction for the roles- Bosh will drop to 15ppg and will assume a more defensive role scoring from putbacks and 18 footers. Wade will lead in scoring and his assists per game will increase earning him close to a double double average. That is based on what he did in the Olympics and in the all star games. Lebron will be the workhorse, blocking shots, getting rebounds, scoring when needed, etc. He will be the one who provides whatever is lacking on any given night from the rest of the team. Saying that they don't have a chance at a ring is the most outlandish thing I've ever heard. Mark my words- Kobe, you might as well move to Canada because it is all over. Garnett and Pierce, they are building a court at Happy Acres retirement facility for you. Howard, besides learning post moves from Ewing, you might want to learn some coping skills because you can forget it until you get some real help. You may want to model your next move after Lebron since your organization never brings anyone in to help you but washed up and third rate players just like Cleveland. Jordan also played in a huge city and for an organization who continually surrounded him with amazing talent. Also, a pay cut was always the last thing on his mind unless it was coming from someone else's salary. You're right though, Jordan would have never done this because of his arrogance... I mean pride and confidence. However, he would be willing to leave at the peak of his career, leave his team hanging by a thread, and rob them of a couple of titles to chase a fulfilling and legendary career in minor league baseball. I would assume that none of these critics have ever quit a job to go for a better opportunity. I guess I should have just kept my job at McDonald's because I owed them so much and they depended on me so much instead of becoming a school teacher. It's the same logic. Lebron would have been a fool not to jump at the chance if a title is really what he wants. We've seen what happens to players who are loyal to thier organizations and their cities. Barkley, Ewing, and my all-time favorite players Malone and Stockton- all of whom are remembered as second rate players because they never took a chance and never got a ring. Even on this very site some of you have called them losers and talked about how they choked when the simple truth is that thier organizations couldn't get them the help they needed. Forget all of thier personal records and contributions to the game of basketball, these legends are remembered as losers. Lebron made the right move and the grass on his side of the fence looks like a Tecomate food plot because it is green, green, green. muggs
Jordan also played in a huge city and for an organization who continually surrounded him with amazing talent Jordan won his first championship at the age of 28, LeBron is 25. Amazing talent? Outside of Pippen, who in the world had amazing talent on any of those Bulls teams? Some how, I don't think Jordan would have joined forces with the rival Pistons just to make winning a ring easier for him. You do realize the Cavs won 60+ games the last two years, best regular season record in the league both years. LeBron was surrounded here by NBA all defensive players, other All-Stars, and the Cavs made a trade every year to bring in guys LeBron spefically told them he wanted. What more did he want? As far as guys taking less money as a "sacrifice" that is comical my friend. There is no state income tax in Florida, so they're hardly "sacrificing" anything. I don't think they'll go hungry any time soon either. My grandfather came over from Poland by himself when he was 17. He worked as a tool and die maker for 35 years, worked six days a week the entire time, lived in the same small house for 30 years, paid off the mortgage, and retired at the age of 68 only to die a year and a half later. That is sacrifice bud. LeBron doesn't even know the meaning of the word, and I doubt he could even spell it.
