Payin' bills

For those out there interested, google 'zero dollar budget'.

Basically, it is a way of budgeting where you put your paychecks at the top of your budget page and then spend every penny. You can have titles such as fun money or other (if lucky enough to have any left over).

If you get paid twice a month, have two columns with a paycheck in each. Then figure out what bills are due between the time you get paid the first and before the second and then do the same with the second paycheck.

Most people wonder where their money went because they have no clue. This budgeting style makes you account for every penny of your money. That means no more $200 impulse trips to wally world but it works.

Most people--according to Dave Ramsey and I agree--feel like they got a raise when starting this budgeting style.

yep got to make a list of where your dough goes. then at the end of the month review where all the dough went.

i am very fortunate to have a nice pile left over each month.;). which is why i can go out west and buy the few fun things i have. but i also save a lot and put 13% into a 401K each week.

The beauty of the zero dollar budget is that it points out where your money is going. If there isn't enough to cover the bills you know you will have, it will then force you to prioritize.

The best thing is that it prevents you from getting to a week from payday and realizing there's not enough for rent or food.

Kidd....

It certainly does show you where your rubber hits the road. I realized how damaging the boredom $30-50 wally world trips was hurting.

It makes you budget for things like gas and groceries and shows you how things like coupons that were too much trouble to clip make a difference. You won't end up broke a week before pay day and ask 'where did my money go?'. Quite satisfying to control the money instead of the other way around.

It's a great system. It is basically what Dave Ramsey touts on his show.

I am an Accountant and had never heard of it before listening to Dave Ramsey. I wish I had known about it years before. I essentially knew when things were due and how much I needed when/where but there was a lot of money lost in the cracks that I would love to have back. Kind of like pushing on a balloon...push on one side and it affect the other. Expensive meal out tonight, rice and beans for two days to compensate on the food budget.

Try it PM me with questions, I will be glad to help.
