Dawg
There are talks of a OHV trail being made in the area I live. Currently we have very limited areas to ride on. I hope this pans out. Here's a map of the areas they are considering. The areas shaded in red are the ones considered. It would still be a bit of a drive for me to get to the closest one, but I think it would be worth it. I live about where the green dot is on the bottom of the map. Here's the story: Potential locations for an off-highway vehicle (OHV) trail on either the Angelina or Sabine National Forest will be presented at a public meeting on Tuesday, July 20th in Hemphill. The meeting will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the J.R. Huffman Library, 375 Sabine Street in Hemphill. Information provided previously indicated that the five areas being considered are Harvey Creek in the Angelina National Forest, Boles Field, North Toledo Bend, Red Hill Lake area and Trail Between the Lakes area in the Sabine National Forest. Information provided by the Texas Motorized Trails Coalition showed a similar trail they operate outside of Gilmer Texas has a $1.7 million economic impact on that community each year. A committee representing the environmental community, trail rider associations, local and state agencies, and the U.S. Forest Service has completed preliminary work on possible locations for an OHV trail and will present their findings at the meeting. The public is invited to comment on the potential locations. What are you thoughts on OHV trails?
AaronS
I love atving and have traveled to a lot of places to do it. I wouldn't be able to do it without trails. I just hope the people that ride them are responsible and stay on the trails, so they don't ruin it for everyone else. Good luck getting a new riding area. Shaun_300
We have tons of ATV trails here in Ontario, they use a lot of the winter snowmobile trails as ATV trails. You can go for hundreds of miles. Some more rural areas you're allowed to drive them on the roads too, two lane highways included. Hope they get things going down there for you Corey! They're a lot of fun.
