Herre's some more of the action from Sunday's OTPG Rootin' Tootin' Shootin' Event. Most of the usual suspects showed up to share the day. Shame on you for 6 weeks if you missed it.

L-R: PA Spike King, PA Ridgerunner and Uncle John look on as Pudd prepares to get the event rolling.

We are a patriotic bunch and , thanks to Uncle John, it only seemed right to fly our colors for such an important occasion.

Pudd working on some 300 yard steel.

DSC04058.jpg

Yes........that was a pronghorn head you saw. No.......we don't know where it came from.........do we Uncle John???

DSC04083.jpg

Possibly the most popular attraction of the day....the grill. Mighty fine eatin'!!!

DSC04059.jpg

Pudd covers the finer points of firing a .50 BMG to Lil Strut10.

Lil sends one on its way.

DSC04062.jpg

Spike King takes a spin.

DSC04066.jpg

Uncle John and Pudd talk it over one last time, and.........

DSC04067.jpg

Another 750 grainer is unleashed.

DSC04071.jpg

Lil rings 300 yard steel with his Weatherby .308 Win.

DSC04073.jpg

Snapper and that beautiful Sako zeroing in on the gong.

DSC04075.jpg

Spike King and his 7mm Taylor & Robbins Mag printing an incredibly tight 100 yard group as Uncle John calls shot.

DSC04077.jpg

The whole gang at the 600 yard range.

DSC04079.jpg

Pudd goes long and Uncle John, again, calls shots.

DSC04078.jpg

An over-the-shoulder look at the 600 yard target (although what we are shooting at does not show up in the pic. It's to the right of the two white boards). The white boards are about 2' x 3' in size. The gong is 8" and blaze orange.

Wonderful weather prevailed and a great time was had by all attendees. I think I actually gained a few pounds.

Again Strut, thank you and to the "gang" for the great day at the range. Shooting the 50 cal was a long but much appreciated wait. LOL. Pudd thanks for bringing the cannon this year. Uncle John, great talking guns and what not"s with you. And the great food sure hit the spot also and till next year when we all gather at the bench to burn more powder again.

Again I want to extend my thanks for the invite. No I am not afraid of the big 50 but just about a month ago I had cataract eye surgery and since I now have 20/20 vision in that eye I did not want to play too hard and mess that up. I get the other eye done in two days and by next year I will be ready to rock and roll. Spike King and I had a great time with a bunch of great guys and some great stories too. I can only say if you were not there you just plain missed it and possibly get voted back on the porch by me. Thanks again for a great time, many laughs, and great food. Oh and I know nothing about the antelope head.

Awesome pics Don, sure wish I could have been there ringing steel with ya's. How did Lil like that 50? :D

Wish you coulda made it too.

Lil ain't afraid of much. He will crawl behind almost anything and pull the trigger. I'll bet if we'd have had 50 rounds of ammo and let him, he'd have shot it all.

Just a quick note for the guys that were there Sunday. I got my other eye operated on this morning and it is doing fine. Still a little dialated and a little foggy but coming along just like the first one a month ago. I can see pretty well without glasses and as soon as the eye done this morning is recovered from all the meds I should be able to go hunting without wearing glasses. Look out next year as this old guy has a new set of eyes.

Now all us young'uns are in trouble next time when you come down and show us how an old feller does with a rifle. :D

This shoot was combined with a (supposed) W. PA get-together. So we opted to make it an "all gun" shoot.

Don't worry. It won't happen again.

Hopefully someday I'll have extra money and get a magnum. My other half said she'd let me buy my last gun (with my own money) if it was the last one. I needed a ML for a ML hunt, so I bought a T/C ProHunter. So now I can buy a magnum rifle barrel for it and she shouldn't complain... in theory of coarse. Then maybe I'll make it to one of these.
