Re: Anyone else hunt with an airgun?

i use to use an airgun back in the day, still take it out for a few squirrels sometimes. its just a little crossman, i think its rated for 500fps, i wouldnt mind an airgun like yours! might invest in one sometime. i used to have a 3-7x bushnell .22 scope on it. i had that thing literally driving tacks grin.gif i shot a partridge in the head with it out of a tree. killed him stone dead laugh.gifgrin.gif

I still have the Sheridan pellet rifle I bought when I was 14, and that was a long time ago, and that gun works great to this day. 10 pumps provided more than enough power to stop bunnies or tree rats with one shot. I"ve taken my share of rabbits and squirrels with it, even knocked a crow out of tall tree once with a head shot.

I use a Gamo Hunter model. Can't remember the model number but it shoots 1000 fps. I took a squirrel at about 30 yards using the Gamo hunting pellets. I haven't tried the new pellets that they came out with that are supposed to shoot faster. I'd like to know if they really work before I buy them.

Dartonman sent me a couple tubes of those things and they do seem to hit harder than the standard lead. I don't know if they travel faster though. They are more accurate too.

Illegal in PA to shoot any wild animal with an airgun..........even rats.

The hitch is that pigeons are considered domestic animals. I've knocked 4 of them off the top of the barn in the last week and a half. That's about a 45-50 yard shot and 30 feet up. With a steady rest you can head shoot them at that distance.

I shoot an RWS-Diana 34 with a 2x7 BSA.
