NEBRbruiser
What kind of luck have you had using the Thermacell? I just bought one for my brother and I but have not used it. Thoughts?
Orion_70
It works! It's in my must have equipment to bring during bow season here in Fl. Doesn't do that great with deer flies and little gnats, but works great for mosquitoes!
NEBRbruiser
thanks Thats good to hear. I know I have heard people say good things about them but still wondered. Problem is being in Nebraska we don't have many days where the wind isn't blowing at least some and I've heard they don't work well with any kind of wind? AaronS
They are awesome. I won't go turkey hunting without mine.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I love it. Works great early during the early season and during turkey season. Heck I set it outside on the table if I am hanging out on the back deck.
redkneck
Seriously, there are times of the year in the swamp that I absolutely could not hunt without one. They are a lifesaver.
Tominator
It's not luck, it's science, and yes, they work.
Muleyman
They are a life saver! we were bear hunting and had mosquitoes bothering us like crazy and after we turned it on we honestly never had a mosquitoe on us for 7 hours
clrj3514
I love mine. If the skeeters are out, my thermacell is burnin.
NEBRbruiser
sprays Does anyone use any types of sprays for mosquitoes. I see you can find some that are unscented and have not used anything like that for hunting before. Anyone try any?
BWiz
Thermocell Performance I just want to start out by saying that I've never been on to jump on all the gadgets and fads that come out. But a couple of weeks ago I found a good deal on the Thermocell, so I bought it. I have been pleasantly surprised. It does perform as advertised. You can't go wrong with this product. It's great fishing, shooting 3D, and hunting. I also learned they have available an earth scented version that I'll have in the treestand this fall. :saber:

Rhino
IMHO...Greatest aid for comfort during early season bowhunting ever invented! I had to break down and buy a new one this week. My old one is ~10 years old & finally got to where it wouldn't stay lit last weekend while watching deer. Got it back when my son was playing little league baseball. He's 23 now. Back then they were only available in a bone white color.
Nickel
I love it. As long as it is not to windy it works great.
NEBRbruiser
Thanks for the info. I'm really looking forward to testing it out Sept 15th! Opening day bow season. Hope it works or I won't last long in the woods.
MNcrittergittr
They're great! I've always been sceptical about products and wasn't sure about the Thermacell but figured it was worth a try. So far I've been very happy with it. I live in Minnesota where the mosquito might as well be the state bird. In my experience it doesn't completely eradicate all of the bugs, but I didn't expect it to. They definitely help! I'm excited about trying it this fall during the rut. You can buy blank pads and put scent on them like doe in estrous or whatever. Supposedly it helps disperse the scent and it keeps it from freezing which would be great if it works! Especially since where we hunt, by the time the rut rolls around everything freezes.
dbHunterNY
It doesn't work when you've got a stiff breeze, which is when you don't need it. That's pretty much it.
johnf
It's one of the few hunting gimicks that you think is going to flop that actually does exactly what it says. I've been hunting swamps that you had to use a bug suit in just to walk into because the skeeters were so thick in. You turn the thermocell on and they are gone in about 10 minutes. These things are great. Well worth the money.
buckandbull
I think I will try one myself now that I see all the positive results everyone has had.
Furrow Outdoors
I've been using a thermacell out in the woods all summer while i'm checking my cameras. It is amazing i haven't had any problem with bugs while checking them. The one time i checked a camera without the thermacell i got eaten up real bad. I haven't made that mistake again. NEBRbruiser
Sounds like real good reviews from you all. Thanks for the response. Look forward to giving it a whirl in two months on opening day. Actually less than two months. Wow, time flies!
Prairiepredator
They work great! We used them when we went bear hunting; we fired them up and a couple minutes later there would not be a single mosquito around.
jcot2773
If the breeze is blowing put it upwind of you. i have found that it isn't as effective but it is better than nothing. i zip tie it on the side of my stand that is upwind of me. And down here in FL you can definately tell a difference breeze or not. it is a must have in my arsenal of gear.
