92xj
So, I am in the market again for another 45. I had a Ruger p90th which I absolutely loved and am strongly thinking about getting another one, but am open for any and all suggestions. I do not have a lot of experience with a lot of different hand guns. So, teach me on the subject and talk me into a gun.
Dawg
The baby Desert Eagle .45 is a nice gun, but it is LOUD. My cuz had one and it would ring your ears. Sweet gun though. The Springfield XD is another good one.
m gardner
What is the purpose of the new pistol? Target? Self defense? USPSA? If you can afford it SIG makes the model 220 in several configurations from carry to target models. Single action only and conventional cruncherklickers. Alloy and steel frames. For $300.00 or so you can get a 22 conversion to practice cheaply with it too.
92xj
mainly target, plinking around. Will be used in self defense if needed. Dont plan to carry, but might.

Strut10
GLock +1 I'm no fan of the .45 ACP. But you'll never go wrong with a Glock.........no matter what the caliber.
lil hunter
I personally own an XDM, in 9mm, A Glock 23 (.40 cal) and now a Kimber 1911 .45 ACP. The Kimber is easily my favorite of the 3, and is a better gun IMO, but I also paid a lot more for it. I have had very little trouble with either the Glock and the XDM. The one thing I like about the Springfield is that the mag release, and slide release and both my easier to reach without having to rotate my hand around the grip of the gun. I can't really see myself ever owning a .45 in anything other than the 1911 platform. There is a very broad spectrum of them ranging from $500 to $5000+. It all just depends on what you want to spend. For just plinking, I would much rather shoot mags of 8 at a time, instead of 19 like my 9mm. Of course, I'm not smart enough to just load less rounds into the 19 rd mag.:bang: Anyway, with pretty much anything mentioned so far, you can't go wrong. Pick whichever one you think looks and more importantly feels, and you should be good to go.
Rem308
Check out the Glock 36...w/ the extended magazine it makes for a very comfortable frame...with the standard magazine it is more easily concealed and still very accurate. elkoholic
I have a Springfield XD and have no complaints with it. The accuracy, with the right ammo, is excellent and even with the cheaper ammo, to keep practicing affordable, it is acceptable. It is easy to disassemble and clean. One thing I particularly like about it is that the grip is on the smaller side for the .45 caliper pistols and that fits my hands much better. Unless you can palm a basketball, most of the .45's have grips that are, well, hard to get a grip on. Whatever your choice, enjoy!

7th
The Rock Island Armory is the gun I go to all the time for my shooting: I got a single stack 1911 for $275, put about $65 in upgrade’s (18lb slid spring, trigger, grip spring, tie firing pin, firing pin spring and such). First time at the range, shot it against my dad’s and cousins Kimbers and did not outshot Pop with his but did as good as his and outshot my cousin with his, he also outshot his Kimber with my RIA Also, it will take about any aftermarket 1911 parts will fit the RIA. I was looking in the shotgun news and they have a double stack (14+1) that will fit my hands great, for about $500.
