pointing_dogs_rule
Has anyone ever rented a satellite phone for just a week or two? I'll be hunting a more remote part of Wyoming this fall (alone). I always think about snakes or accidents and would like to be safe. I see most rent for about 60.00 dollars per week with add ons. Any info on a good company to rent from, or bad experiences would be appreciated. good luck to all the dog
WIwhitetailhunter
Are you certain a cell phone won't work? I had better reception in the mountains than I did in my own driveway!
pointing_dogs_rule
I'm not certian of cell phone coverage, however, I do not want to travel 800 miles into the plains of Wyoming for a week and then find out that the cell doesn't work. I'd rather be safe then sorry on this trip. Thanks for the mountian info on cell phones. good luck to all the dog
OJR
There are a lot of places a cell phone does NOT work in the mountains. Even when driving on the highway and there are several peaks and ridges, no reception. There is more none reception, than reception in this area of Idaho and WA. FalconerKitty
Here is a link to a sattelite phone rental. http://www.satellitephonestore.com/ I agree, a sattellite phone as a back up is a good idea. Wyoming is very remote, and places can be hard to get to. My cell service was non-existent after went from Casper to Jeffrey City. May be better now though. Snakes are more of a concern in the lower elevations, very few are found in the mountains, if at all. (too cold). I've found small western diamondbacks, but I did not do anything but let them be after looking at them. If you have never been there before, be prepared to be at higher elevations, make sure your areobic fitness is good and have good climbing fitness, (stair steps or incline intermittent treadmill wearing a backpack). You will be glad you hit the gym for the extra conditioning.

billkay
A buddy of mine does when he hunts out west each year. I'll get the info on the company he uses. I know he's needed it at least once.

pointing_dogs_rule
Thanks for all the help guys. I'll be in the Thunderbasin national grasslands for antelope so snakes are of concern. The area I will be hunting is fairly remote. I would rather be safe then sorry. good luck to all the dog
