Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961. Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1954. Cincinnati , OH (3rd) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1984. Cleveland , OH (4th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1989. Miami , FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor. 8ptbuckpa Posted July 25, 2010 Report Share Posted July 25, 2010 It's probably stereotyping, but I believe they have not elected republicans because most repubs want less gov't so therefore less public services. IMHO the more services the poorer the area, the more people will be dependent the population will be causing a strain on government funding causing a larger pool to pay for the services. Very similar to what my city of harrisburg is possibly going to do by declaring bankruptcy they will cause the entire county taxpayers to pay for their 300 million dollars in debt. Most small towns in the south are run by dems, they try to make locals think they are not connected to the liberal dems in the state and fed gov. but they are, where do you think their money comes from???
