TBow
In the past two years, I've had one of my two daughters and also my son get married. I also attended my sister-in-law's wedding....in Antigua a year and a half ago. I celebrated my 40th wedding anniversary last week. I was a guest at a fellow workers son's wedding in St. Catherines last summer, and now this weekend I'm heading to Kitchener to attend the wedding of the son of one of my best friends. My son is also the best man at this Kitchener wedding and I've been asked to co-MC the reception. All good times for sure, but it just seems like everytime someone I know asks, or is asked, "Will you marry me?", or else there is a celebration of someone's wedding that I know, I get just a little bit more broke! I figure this weekend will tag me for over a grand after all is said and done when considering a wedding gift, hotel, gas, meals, booze, taxis, tips, etc! What in the heck ever happened to people eloping? I think it's nye on time that TV started a reality show about eloping and start a new fad with those considering saying "I DO!". Or maybe there should be an insurance company that carries a policy for poor 'ol schmucks like me who will get back all their cash that they've spent on either putting on a wedding, or have spent at attending a wedding, if the happy couple go their separate ways within a designated time frame. ....hmmmmmmmm? NAW! I think the eloping thing works best for me. I've got one daughter holding out so far, but I've heard her talking to my wife and I think I heard her drop the big 'M' as in marriage! Man at this rate I'm never gon'na get a new truck, and be destined to drive my old rusting Dodge Ram for eternity! O.K. Everyone say this subliminal message together with me....."E....L....O....P....E....!", in hopes that someone I know will take heed! TBroke PS: 'Course y'all know I'm jes' joshin'! Right?
