Dawg
So what makes you folks believe that just because you own a bike that you are going to end up hurt or dead? Yea, there have been numerous bike accidents in the country, people have died, people have been hurt. But get this, there have been car, truck, van and SUV accidents that have done the same. Why isn't there any lecturing about all of us owning one of those? Why not tell me that because I own a truck that one day my wife will have to give up her life because I'm gonna end up in a wreck and she will have to take care of me? That is total bunk. I have several friends who own bikes and have owned them for a long time. Guess what? They are still alive. I have riends who don't own bikes but yet own regular vehicles. Guess what? A few of them are dead, they died in the vehicles they thought were safe. At the end of the day, when we all are kicked back in the house, we all have gambled with life. Whether we walked out to the mailbox or went on a stroll on the Harley or crotch rocket or went to the grocery store in our F-350. Giving advice is one thing. Shoving your biased opinions where they don't belong is another.
BowJoe
Maybe I have overreacted but I feel that when Kyle's attitude is completely negative about this forum and it's members to the point that he despises most of what goes on here, then it's time he step aside and let someone (not even remotely thinking of me) who will represent this site as a somewhat authoritarian figure. Hey, if I'm wrong, then by all means, add me to the ban list. I have just never seen such negative statements by an admin in the years that I've been here. I can't see doing something for no pay and little respect (from those that cause problems) in my spare time that I appeared to hate. Or at least didn't want to do. I know I don't post as much as I used to but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the people I've come to know on here. I'm in no way speaking for Kyle or anyone else for that matter but I just don't see why he would even want to be an admin any more. It's just my opinion. It doesn't count for diddly but as I read the posts, I just felt compelled to speak. Evidently, like others who've stopped posting, it's not wanted. The_Kat
Nice post popgun....bringing up something that happenend 6 years ago when I was in highschool lol. If you can't see a change from an 18 year old kid to a 24 year old kid then your blind. I made lotsa mistakes back then. Drinking, driving, fighting, you name it. I'd venture to say I'm far from the only 18 year old kid that did tht kinda stuff. Since those days tho, I dare say I've grown up alot. I do not drink at all and haven't in about 3-4 years. In fact the last beer I even attempted to drink was with a fellow forum member. I haven't gotten into a fight since I can't remember when. I bust my butt working 80-90 hours a week to pay my bills and give my family what they want and need. I raise my son and don't ask anyone else to. I hve two homes that I pay for....don't need mom n daddy to pay my way. Everything I have I worked for. You know me through a screen name and words on a screen. Not that I needed to defend myself to your opinion, I just wanted you to know that I am not the drinker/loser I was 6 years ago.

Congrats on recognizing the train wreck that the behavior could have been. I guess where this and the other post went awry is that you now recognize that behavior was bad for you. Others who are farther on down the road see what you are currently contemplating doing as just as potentially dangerous for you as what you used to do. Years ago, you wouldn't probably have listened to someone telling you that you were headed down the wrong road at that time, right? Well, as you age and realize that at 24 you really don't know squat (really, I sit back and laugh at some of the notions I had when I was 24--but I thought I had it all figured out) you will give advice too in hopes someone will take it and potentially save their lives or help them avoid problems. That's all the advice given to you was meant for. If nothing else, take this away. People don't spend the amount of time they have talking to 24 year olds if they don't like them and want the best for them. I have several friends who own bikes and have owned them for a long time. Guess what? They are still alive. I really haven't even looked at this "discussion" until now......and only this last page at that. So forgive me for not knowing what it's entirely about. But the above quote has got to be the most logically bankrupt thing I've read this month. Sure. You can be killed in a car, truck, SUV or tri-axle coal truck. No doubt. But trying to equate that to the dangers of riding a bike is beyond nuts. When you are in a vehicle you are definitely succeptible to being killed in an accident. But, at least, you have a 3000 or 4000 pound safety cushion of iron and plastic wrapped around you. What have you got on a bike???? A pair of Levi's. Just ask someone who's hit a deer in a car. What did they do??? Drove through it..........that's what they did. Took the car to the body shop and got it fixed. Now ask a guy who's hit a deer on a bike the same question........if he's still alive. You'll get a different answer. On a bike, you are helpless and at the mercy of everything. My wife's got 2 cousins (40-ish husband & wife with young kiddos) in California laying in the hospital right now from a bike accident last weekend. Jeep Wrangler driver looked right at them, made eye contact and pulled out. Him: Broken back, broken ribs, broken sternum, in surgery today for a rod and a handful of screws in the spine. Her: Broken neck, broken back, on a ventilator, already had 6 hours of emergency surgery for a lacerated liver and spleen. May or may not ever walk again. In no way their fault. But done. In a car............they walk away mad. Invalid and, frankly, garbage logic.

The_Kat
Definitely sorry about the accident there Don. A tragedy no matter what they were riding/driving. Dad hit a deer and was almost killed. People fall out of deer stands, get shot accidentally on hunts and handling firearms, among other dangerous things that can happen during hunting....yet we all still take those risks. I've avoided the whole motorcycle safety argument simply cause it wasn't the reason for my thread. I know they're dangerous. I've seen it first hand with dad. My best friend rode motorcycles his whole life. He's now resting in the Wewoka, OK cemetary from his truck accident. Life happens, and we have no control over it. BTW, I somehow missed your latest reply Joe. I don't expect you to like me....your a Busch fan and I'm an Earnhardt Jr. fan..... Your kinda like Brad K. and I'm Carl Edwards....it's ok....I'd be angry too .
clrj3514
Invalid and, frankly, garbage logic. Sorry about your family and sorry you feel that way but I live everyday of my life (at least for now) in a wheelchair. I broke my neck not because I was on a motorcycle, but a truck. I flew out 40-50 feet. If I was out of my truck, how is that different from being on a bike? If it's your time, you're going whether you (or anybody else for that matter), like it or not. Norm Sauceman
Kyle, it is no ones business what you do. I have no problem what anyone does as long as it is legal and what I feel is ethical. Don't let it bother you too much...I was targeted by a few on here a while back and it came back to slap them right up side the head....and I LOVED IT!!! BowJoe
Kyle, I had this great elaborate come-back I wanted to post and I was gonna show what you said that irked me and try to argue a good point and ... then it hit me. I reread the posts and I read every word carefully. I even read my replies and those that criticized or agreed with it. With all of the sincerity I can muster, I apologize. I keep sticking my size 13 shoe in my size 34 mouth. I don't know if I had something else bothering me or I was just stuck on stupid or what. Most likely the stuck on stupid part. I guess in my hurry to prove a useless point to you and others, I forgot that I was supposed to be saying this to a friend and not come off sounding and acting like an enemy. More frequent than I would ever admit, I rush to argue about something that I think is right and fall back on the excuse that being right makes my transgressions ok. Whether I was right or wrong, doesn't excuse the way I talked to you and about you. My only point should have been simply stated and left at that. Instead, I attacked you and totally missed my own point. To those that read my post, I apologize for what I posted and all I can do is say, "I'm sorry." Many times, Kyle has been one of the few people I could vent to and not worry about him taking it seriously or doing anything but giving me the same flak right back. I know I lost what little credibility I had on here and being as humble as I can, I sincerely accept it and will take my licks as I should. Most of all though, if I had anything to say negative, I should have sent Kyle a PM and let it stay between him and me. I'm sorry for any flak you received because of me. Bye the way, I hate humble pie but since I'm the one that made it, I have to eat it with a smile.
lilmisswtnhunt
if people are just gonna whine about everything then they can go talk to a psychiatrist about it. this is a forum to share ideas and opinions not complain. if you dont like that, you can keep the change
hutchies
Here is my opinion. We all know how there were/are "clicks" here, just like in everyday life. And if you weren't a part of a "click", and posted something, chances are your post didn't get many comments. Now if you were part of a "click", you could post the same thing, and watch that topic explode!!! And if for some reason you and a member of a "click" had a disagreement, then the "mob" mentality took over, and everyone wanted that one person's head. And it doesn't matter how much time had passed, or how the individuals handled it, it still happens. Sad but true No doubt brotha.............Flaming mob Cliques and a few overzealous mods have sent alot of good members packing. I'm sure I will get flamed for it. Long time members know the mods I'm talking about. As for me I don't care anymore. I rarely come on here and post. Just lurk in the shadows so I don't piss a mod off or one of his buddies and get banned for some idiotic reason.
