muggs
Okay, so I won't go into how my Buckeyes own the Blowverines, or how they fired a coach who was basically Tressel's doormat only to hire a guy who was classy enough to stab his alma matre in the back, all for the sake of running some gimmick offense that was created by mid-major schools to suit the few under-sized QBs who they could actually convince to play for them...because that's already been well documented. So why pour salt in the already gaping open wound, right? But I would like to know how you feel about losing Ryan Mallett because of that dbag coach of your's and his gimmick offense. So, how do you feel? Kid's 6'7" and could throw a ball through a brick wall, finished #7 in the nation in passer efficiency with a 152.46 rating, 3,624 yards and 30 TDs vs. 7 INTs. The pro scouts have to be salivating over this guy...wow. I'm guessing he would have been one heckuva fit in Carr's pro-style offense. When a program runs a pro style offense, it's funny how pro caliber QB want to leave their home state and play at your program too. It's also funny, how when you fire a guy who runs a pro style offense and hire a guy who runs some Pop Warner spread/option attack how quickly these big time QBs currently under scholarship leave your school. Be honest with yourselves...this all has to sting real bad, right? Michigan program = :stretcher:
jaret
Hahaha I agree. This has to be Rodriquez's last year to get something going. Where did Mallett go again?
gzilla45
He went to Arkansas. I have to agree with you that if RR doesn't do something this year, he is probably gone. I remember back when Michigan was good that they had a swagger about them. That is now gone and until they get it back, they are going to be average. But I'm certainly glad to see them struggle. Big 10 football can't start soon enough!
muggs
I'm pretty excited about Nebraska joining the conference. I would have liked to see Missouri join as well, but at least now they can have a conference championship next season.
Tominator
Yeah, how y'all feel about that? BTW--where are all the Meatchicken fans?

gzilla45
I'm actually glad they stopped with Nebraska. Any more than that and I think it would have been too big. I must say I'm looking forward to 10/16 when OSU comes to Camp Randall. I'll be in the student section and hopefully will make it out alive after my Badgers win! SuperMn106
Muggsy, It has been a while since I have been able to get on here but I will answer your question. Ryan Mallet had to go because he was not a good fit in Coach Rods "system". It is fine by me. If it is such a gimmick system then how can you explain how he did what he did at West Virginia with it? Took them from nothing to consistintly in the top 10 in the nation when he was there. He made a decision to leave that school and go to his "dream" job. I know you dont like it, but get over it. He did what was best for him and his family. Only time will tell if it was worth it but his track record with other teams say it was a chance worth taking. Now that he is finally getting "his" guys that fit "his" system in there and getting them experience. (In other words, they are not freshmen anymore) I think it will get better. I think the biggest problem is the defense went to heck when Ron English left and took a head coaching job somewhere. I say you have to give him at least 2 more years to let him get his kids to be seniors. From what I watched of the spring game this year, I highly expect Denard Robinson to be the strarting QB over Forcier. I am expecting a good season with losses possibly coming from Penn State, and a close low scoring game with your buckeyes.
hunter109
well it is always a low scoring game between osu and um well time will tell what happenes but i go with osu beating them well see you all latter
muggs
I highly expect Denard Robinson to be the strarting QB over Forcier. Does it even matter? What a couple of over-hyped bums...Forcier is tiny and Robinson can't hit his targets. Super, to answer your question, the gimmick option spread works to help schools who can't recruit a true QB like Mallet to compete against schools who can. The thinking being, you put a good athlete back there and run gimmick spread option plays you can get a few bogus wins here and there against better schools (just like App St did to your boys in The Big House). But the point is, bud, when you're Michigan you don't trade in your 100+ years of tradition and philosophy for a stupid gimmick offense smaller schools had to use as a last resort. YOU ALREADY ARE WHAT THEY ASPIRE TO BE. But ya boys got panicky up there because they see Tress schooling Carr, so they push the panick button and they sell out. They bring in a gimmick coach, lose a blue chip QB, and completely ignore the new coaches lack of character. :tooth:
