I pay about $40 a month with US Cellular, give or take, for unlimited texts, pics, weekends, holidays, evenings, all incoming calls, on a nationwide plan. Granted I did sign on while a promotion was running but I'd still have all of that just without the nationwide coverage were there no promotion. I don't need any frills like pointless apps and I don't have any. In all honesty, I am on a family plan which helps keep the costs down

I still use the cheap one, $15 a month and refill when i need or want to, i have better things to do beside stare at a phone or text people about unimportant subjects.

I have 2 basic cell phones. One for my wife and one for yours truly. They're pretty much just for emergencies such as road side breakdowns, injuries in the woods while hunting or if someone needs to locate me ASAP. I pay a monthly top-up of 11.30 per month for each phone. I can't text or browse the internet with them, but then again, I don't want to.

The $100 to $200 per month that I save on not having a mega plan for each phone is better spent on toys that I actually enjoy such as a new bow, or a gun, or a boat, or a hunting trip somewhere, or fishing poles for the grandkids.

I see a lot of people with bluetooth wireless units glued to their ears, as if they are never off their cell phone. I told my buddies at the coffee shop that I visit occassionally, that if they ever saw me come in with a wireless unit stuck on my ear looking like I'm a regular on Star Trek, they are to immediately slap me along side of the head!

I pay a bit over $150 Mike. I have 5 phones on the plan with unlimited texting/calls within Verizon and 500 outside texts. We all share 700 minutes(smallest plan) and it seems to work. We almost never go over.

Verizon gets a big piece of me every month. They have my TV, hi speed net, home phone and 5 cells.

Ours is a bundled plan with at&t Mike, and Catrina usually has the phone with her. We pay less than $50 for our cell service and texts. Christina has her own phone, she pays for her minutes/texts out of her allowance and chicken egg money, learning responsibility.;)

I guess I am really in the minority. I spent many years as a military recruiter and lived by the phone. Since I retired I have claimed that I do not want to be that accessable ever again. I am going to get one just for emergencies and travel and to have with when hunting. The only reason for this decision is you cannot find a public telephone anymore.
