Dakota
Tim, see if you can find something in South Dakota. With all my heart stuff going on, I'm financially strapped, but would like to make it out to something like this. Dakota

billkay
Probably be best to have it in a state with OTC tags.
SourthenILdeerhunter
the only OTC tags in IL are bow tags and left over firearm tags
hoosierhunter
Tim- So lodging and meals would be included means your looking at a outfitted hunt instead of DIY. Tough question. I'd love to do it, but it depends on where your going and the quality of the area. I think the Dakotas or Montana would be a fun place to hunt and offer a decent harvest opportunity for multiple people. For me personally I'd rather go out west and hunt b/c I live here in the midwest and Ill isn't any different from what I have now. This would be a pretty fun deal though to get some guys together in a camp. Please keep me posted on the status of this as I have real interest if your going out West and I know my father would be in too because we just missed the deadline for Wyomning Antelope this year. We had the land secured and everything.

Dakota
Why not a public land mule deer spot and stalk hunt around Pierre, South Dakota? Since Pierre is the capital, you can buy tags at the GFP office or purchase your tags ahead of time online (archery tags are unlimited). There is a TON of public land along both sides of the Missourri River and maybe we could even get in some good walleye, northern and salmon fishing at Lake Oahe! I guess the only reason I'm saying this is for my own selfish reasons...lol...I'm just really financially strapped right now and this would really be the only way I could make a forum gathering. dbHunterNY
I could probably swing any of those costs into a hunting budget. Money is a little tighter with the house, but yea.
Dakota
The Ramkota in Pierre is really nice and the best hotel in town. Very hunter friendly; they've got mounts up in the hotel, allow dogs in the rooms, will cook your catch or kill for you in the restaurant and have a cleaning station in the back of hotel so you can clean your fish or your pheasants. I'll have to check on nightly rates, but it's an awesome hotel! Dakota
Tim Andrus
Dakota I dont want to have people show up for a hunt that could be ruined or messed up on public land with other hunters on it. I understand the cost part but if they spend a few hundred dollars and run into people everyday it wouldnt be very enjoyable. Having private ground and a house for all of us to stay in and visit Ithink is a better idea. I want to make this trip a special one for all who invest in it. I probably wont hunt at all , but put hunters out and change stands and so on cook etc
dbHunterNY
Yea I'd pay more to be on the private ground. Sounds like it'd be a good time if it can happen. I'm sure those who go would help out to let you get out and at least hunt a little bit.
Tominator
Always interested in these group hunts, but can never make it because of the school year. Only possible way I could do it is if you hold it over Christmas break, and I know Christmas break 2011 will be spent in Hawaii, cuz that's my 20th anniversary gift to my wife. Rhino
Just curious Tim...that close to the Canadian border are you thinking bow or firearm?
Tim Andrus
Bow , Rhino gun tags are very hard to get in North Dakota. I like the early season all the animals are on a bed to feed pattern but am open to later also they open around the 1st of september
okiedog
I like the idea of the early season in September. That would still leave my reg season intacked which opens Oct 1st.

ruttinbuc
I always had an interest in hunting North Dakota. Some big bucks are killed every year there. Just never gave plan to going. That time of year up there should be fairly cool. It is a question to where I'll be in life at that time.
