woolybear
Awesome! I'd be ruined if a buck like that ever showed at one of my cams. Gonna be plenty of sleepless nights till your season rolls around.

ruttinbuc
Looks like a Dandy?... He is a Dandy! Awesome! I'd be ruined if a buck like that ever showed at one of my cams. Gonna be plenty of sleepless nights till your season rolls around. That is the trouble with trail cams, Matt. I'd rather be surprised and have him show up while I am on stand. Just like the days before the cam phenomenon. I didn't even put my cameras out this year. I also believe they can do more harm than good. Those big bucks don't tolerate all that intrusion in and out checking the cam.
wtnhunt
Yep, sure is a dandy. Good luck with him. Would kind of agree with Mike on the surprise thing, however if not for trail cams I might not be so inclined to hold out for a buck I think is in the area. And, there is still the element for surprise because we all know that you just never know if or when the buck you got pics of, especially those that are nocturnal, will show up. Rhino
Yep...he's a goodun! ...however if not for trail cams I might not be so inclined to hold out for a buck I think is in the area. And, there is still the element for surprise because we all know that you just never know if or when the buck you got pics of, especially those that are nocturnal, will show up. Not only that but if you're fortunate to catch a good, mature buck on a trail cam it sure makes the decision process for shoot or don't shoot easier. Being surprised is generally the norm for me even with running trail cams. During the 2008 season I killed a 140 class 8 point on Dec. 14th in MS that had never stepped in front of a trail cam. I had made multiple cam sets in the general area from mid summer up through the date I killed him. I had caught another mature buck in the general area that I never saw. He was killed by another hunter in January. Same thing happened last year with 2 of the 3 mature bucks I was fortunate to kill in MS. One on Oct. 3rd, the other on Dec. 10th. The 3rd was killed on Jan. 2nd ~3/4 mile away from the closest trail cam set where he was last caught on cam Nov. 20th.
