PremiumBeef
Hey all, I am looking at going on my first archery Elk hunt in 2011 in CO. I am looking for advice for what areas would be best to hunt. I am looking for a hunt which will give us opportunities to see decent numbers of elk, with a possibility to harvest a bull possibly and at least a cow. We will have about 1 week to hunt. I have a cabin that I can stay in and hunt units 50, 500, and 49. I am just looking for advice on where the herd numbers would be best for us to have a fun experience as well as see some animals. If anyone has ever applied to draw these units how long does it take to draw an archery either sex tag? We would also be willing to go to a different area to have a good chance to see elk. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Phredator
Premium, the last three years it took no points to draw unit 50. Here is a handy link that is fairly accurate in calculating odds. http://monstermuleys.hunterstrailhead.com/huntsearch.php?ST=CO
