Tominator
Sent my Oliver 770 off with the restorer today. Mine is the rusty one on the left, lol. Gonna take about 3 or 4 months, and a whole lotta cash, but been wanting to do this since my father in law gave her to me. I'll keep y'all posted. Tominator
Full restoration Chris? Or just get it running? Full restoration. It runs pretty good. Needs some gas tank work, new battery, new power steering pump, maybe some clutch work, other than that just a lot of tin work and new paint job. Can't wait. Dave said it's going to take 3 or 4 months.

Ohiobucks
Gonna take about 3 or 4 months, and a whole lotta cash...... Shoulda put it in a college fund. New show tractor or tractor for use around the back 5?
JimT
That's going to be very cool when you get it back.... Hard to believe you were so mad that the deer were eating a little of that corn. You must like it a lot!!
Tominator
Shoulda put it in a college fund. I earned my way. So did Heather. I saw a lot of college buds drink daddy's check, so did Heather. We are of a different philosophy. New show tractor or tractor for use around the back 5? Yes! I don't see myself hauling it all over to tractor shows, maybe just the Hartford fair. That and putzing around out back. Snow removal will be easier with it too. Lots more HP than the Kubota. Tominator
So are you going to start touring the country hitting all of the major tractor shows? Nope. Maybe a couple local ones, but I want to use her in the field more than anything.

Tominator
Thats a decent sized tractor. Gas Engine? 30-40 horse? Very good! Yep, gas, and the 770 was rated for 38 on the draw bar, 47 on the belt and PTO. http://www.tiscoparts.com/specs.aspx

Wilfinator
Even old and rusty can look good to a tractor. Shows it didn't just sit in a heated garage looking cute. As a mechanic and being from the prairies originally, I am always drawn to the classics of my childhood. We have a few that do the fall fair show here. They are always a thrill to watch. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Can't wait to see the finished product. This one was a worker Wilf, and I hope to make it a worker when I get her back. Seems to me, man lost a little bit when we started computerizing mechanization. You look at those old tractors, even ones dating back to the 1920's, and they're still running, many of them still working odd jobs around the farm. You look at those old tractors and what did you have? An engine, fan, distributor, carb, alternator, solenoid, maybe some hydraulics, 3 gauges, 6 gears and solid steel. Only plastic you see is wire coverings, a couple knobs and the steering wheel. How many of the tractors they're building now will still be running in 45 years? 50 years? 90 years? Not many IMHO. I can't wait to see the finished product either. I'm fairly certain I'm going to shed a tear or two.
Wilfinator
We use Kubotas at the underground mine where I work as personnel carriers. We are lucky to get 2 years out of them before they are scrap. We also use the rtv 900's by Kubota with the diesel engine. The hydrostatic transmission case in them literally dissolves until the oil leaks out within 6 months of installation. Around $6000 a pop to replace. I replace the rad in the buggies every 3-4 months because they are rotted right out. Again 2 years max until they too are scrap. I'll take an old tractor any day.
