Re: Hello Newbe here

Thanks Guys. here is a short story of how I got him. Was drawn of Sept 28 for the tag. The elk range is about 120 miles from my home, I put almost 5k in miles on my truck looking for a bull. My son and I found this bull in the first week of October. Then he vanished. The area that I was assigned was about 150 sq miles. For the next five weeks I searched high and low for him, finding some other nice bulls but not him. The Sat prior to the hunt I found him and two 6x6's about five miles from where I had first seen him. I watched him all day Sat and Sun not wanting him to vanish again. Monday Nov 8th at 8am I caught him and the other bulls moving from a small meadow and One shot from a .338 did the job. I have hunted out west twice, killing two small bulls. This was no way an easy hunt. The guides here wanted 3K for the week long hunt. And I refused to pay them. I was going to do this by myself or not at all. The bull has 55" main beams and is 51" wide.

You have seen the results. The lil guy is my son Austin. He scouted with me and was at my side when I pulled the triger. Something we will remember every time we look up the elk.
