redkneck
I've never shot one. They are extremely bulky. I suppose they are pretty much the cheapest pistol around, usually going for about $175 new on gunbroker. Generally most folks consider them not reliable enough for a CC weapon. That being said, it will most likely do about whatever you want it to, it is what it is... a cheap pistol. They do have a lifetime warranty and all are +P rated. Hope that helped. Jeramie
Hi-Point makes a very cheap hand gun. I dont mind them for plinking and such but for CC I personally wouldnt carry them. I have shot them in 9mm and .380. Heavy guns but they seemed to shoot fine. They can be picked up all over the place for $100. Should be a decent gun for paper shooting. Get familiar with it and then step up for CC.
riverBottom
I bought the same gun a couple years ago and have enjoyed using it ever since. I agree with the above post, really bulky guns. Due to the size and weight I don't think I would use it for CC though.
bluelund79
For the money, its a great gun. My friend was stacking some incredible groups at 15 yards with his, granted he shoots handguns for a living....We put alot of rounds through our 40cals, and his has held right up next to my XD. I would not recommend it for CC, because of its weight and bulk, however something is always better than nothing...
johnf
I've had one in 9mm and I've got family that have had pretty much everything that Hipoint makes. The 9mm is marginally concealable and those bigger ones are going to be really hard to conceal unless you are a real big guy. As far as function, I've not seen a single issue with them as long as you keep them clean. They have the best warentee out there and customer service is great. We have found that side by shooting that in very slow deliberat shooting it the hipoints do as well as my Glock. Double tap groups were about 2x as big with the high point and shooting a full clip as fast as you could almost trippled the group size at 10 yards with the HP's. In a CC situation you want to be as accurate as you can possibly be.
Dawg
I used a Hi-Point 9mm when I took my CCL class. I shot next to a guy who was shooting a Springfield XD 40 and I scored higher than he did. Can't say it was my shooting skills either because I rarely shot a pistol before taking the class. That being said though, I wouldn't let it be the gun I depended on defending myself with, but like the others have said it is good for tinkering with. hunterbobb
I am a FFL dealer and have sold a bunch of Hi Points. They are cheap ugly and heavy, but they shoot. I have never had one returned for repairs. I can't say that about any other brand I've sold. Maybe they are just to cheap to fix I don't know. What I do know is they are better than nothing. If it was all I had, I wouldn't hesitate to carry it. There are better choices out there though. :gun2:
