I need a 12 gauge...

I'm looking at getting a 12 gauge pump pretty soon, and would like some opinions on the best out there. And yes, I'm aware that the 870 is the gold standard. I already have a 20 in a Wingmaster model.

Does anybody have any experience with the new 887 Nitro Mag? Or, the bigger question is, has anybody laid hands on the Winchester SXP?? I know it was supposed to be released in March but I still can't find one in a store.

Have at it

If youre wanting to shoot 3 1/2" Shells look at the 835 Ulti Mag Mossberg. Biggest Backbore out there. They hold a great pattern, shoot hard, and a all around great shotgun.

Also, Remington has the 887 out. Looks like a pretty neat shotgun. I almost bought one. They are still too new to the market to figure longevity.

I like my Benelli Supernova. It's the closest thing I've held and shot to the Rem 887. It shoots up to a 3-1/2" shell, doesn't kick that hard (I've got the ComforTech stocked version), I've shot well with it at clay birds, it seems to be very durable, and seems to be very weather resistant. Sorry, it's the best comparable that I have experience with.

I agree, My Mossberg Ulti Mag 835 , 12 GA 3 1/2" with Primos Jelly Head topped with Bushnell Holo Sight makes it a one shots deal close in or far out.

You know the one you do not hear a lot about but I really like is the Browning BPS. They are wll balanced, shoot really well, and I like that they eject out of the bottom. (because I am left handed)

I have the upland special model and i love it, for a Browning it's not a bank breaker either.

Another vote for the BPS!

Waterfowler just bought a remington 870 express supermag 12 guage all camo in rt apg, at walmart for $371 including sales tax and gets a $30 mail-in rebate. All said and done he got a all camo 870 that shoots 3.5 inch mags for $341 out the door!Pretty good for a kid 11 years old to save his money to buy his own shotgun!

I have a 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge but it's only a 2 3/4" chamber. I'd like to get a 11-87 super mag sometime to have the 3 1/2" chamber. I do love the Wingmaster though! I also love my Browning BPS, it's a 28 gauge. Very smooth action gun. Only problem I have is getting used to the different safety and slide release levers on it. I don't know how many times I've had the BPS in my hand, go to shoot at a partridge and I go to hit the safety behind the trigger. :o:D

The safety of the BPS is on the tang like an over-under but that's better than in front of the trigger guard, As a lefty I flat out cannot shoot a gun with the safety in front of the trigger. This question of pump guns comes up all the time or at least it seems that way. I will elaborate on what I have seen.

-Benelli NOVA- built great rattles like ****

-Remingtion 870- good gun I have one 26" Barrel MO CAMO, does not mount great but if you shoot it all the time it's fine because you get used to it, I have a tendency too shoot high with it if I have been shooting my other guns more.

-BPS great gun ambidextrous, slick action and mounts well. You cna also get it with the Duratouch finsih. It's a little more money than an 870 but I think it's worth it.
